I am really looking forward to seeing Mickey and the gang in a CGI movie and was wondering if anyone has seen the movie? I am looking for an honest opinion.....actually I will buy it anyway but someone tell me what they think.:earseek: :earseek:

Personally ... I liked it. It's a little strange seeing Mickey in CGI, but I thought it was a cute little compilation of holiday stories with just enough "Christmas corniness," if you know what I mean. Some fun sight gags here and there, too.

:earsboy:

It's a cute movie - or more accurately a collection of shorts, but with a run time of 68 minutes, and a list price of $29.99  - Disney must want to make all their money on the 1st week sale at Wal-mart where it's $15, cuz it sure isn't worth almost $2/minute. :earseek:

But then that's just me...

Oh, please, talk about sour grapes:

Recently, I watched the computer-animated direct-to-video production, Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas. Seeing Mickey Mouse look like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloon is incredibly disturbing.

Ollie Johnston once said, "Just because these characters are the most beloved in the last 75 years doesn't mean you can't destroy them!" If they're not dead by now, dragging them inappropriately into CGI will certainly do it.

These cartoon characters were designed in the 1930's using a series of graphic cheats (like Mickey's sliding ears). When you remove this two-dimensional quality and turn them into puppets -- shiny, plastic, puppets -- The illusion of life and the integrity of the character is broken! This is not the Mickey Mouse the World has known and loved.
Gee, what did this guy think when they took Mickey from black and white to color?

I haven't seen "Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas", but I saw Mickey's Philharmagic, and those characters looked great.

Well I went ahead and paid the $15 at Walmart to take a look at this. My honest opinion: It was cute but nothing special. The best of the stories was the last one with Mickey and Pluto. Most of the characters look ok in CGI, but I agree that Mickey doesn't really look right- they just can't use the same tricks in 3-D that they can use in 2-D with him. I guess time will tell whether this becomes the next look for Mickey. I guess it's just my opinion, but I would have preferred a real hour-long movie with the characters, instead of a bunch of shorts. I know when I was 8 years old or whatever, I could easily sit through those hour long Christmas specials on tv, like Rudolph or the story of Santa- but maybe they figure kids today have less of an attention span, and need these little shorts, which I think is a shame. Bottom line, to me it's cute as something to have playing on the tv while decorating the tree or as holiday atmosphere, but not as something to sit down for an evening of entertainment.

My kids love it and I love it. We bought it the first day it was out and watched it twice that day!!
It was strange to see Mickey CGI but we got through it.

Ch...ch...ch...ch...changes!! You can always watch the classics if the new stuff bothers you. Look at this way... one day Twice Upon A Christmas will be a "classic". Hard to believe, but it's true!!

Disney has to change to some degree with the times. They have to keep their image trendy to attract the younger crowds that will be bringing their families to WDW soon!

Don't you think this technology would have excited Walt? I think he would have loved it and embraced it!

The short stories were cute. Like watching any other x-mas show like Rudolf or Frosty. CGI is here to stay. There is no going back.

My DD 5 will love it, I am sure. And it will more than likely end up a classic as the others have said.
Thanks for your reviews.

Yes, but I don't believe that he would have abandoned everything else for it.

When he started making live action movies - he didn't abandon animation.

I don't have a problem with CGI at all.

I have a problem with CGI when it comes at the cost of hand-drawn animation.

I thought it was cute too, wasn't expecting any more than that.

One thing I will say, the Ducks looked great in CGI, the other characters looked ... less good? But I thought Donald, Scrooge, Daisy and HD&L all looked fantastic. I could enjoy a DuckTales 3D movie any time :-)

My three year old dauther loves it. She has seen it at least 10 times in the last two weeks. I think Donald and his nephews look great in CGI, as well as the ice skating.

Oh, and who uses list price anymore. I'd be embarrassed paying $29.99 when you can find it at 100's of stores for under $20. Well worth the money.

We rented it last weekend. My daughter is 10 and I was unsure as to whether or not it was too "young" for her. Well, let me tell you....as soon as we returned the rented copy we ran out and bought our own copy! We loved it! I can't wait to watch it again on Thanksgiving!

My 3 year old DD just loves it. Wants to watch it over and over again.

LOL list price I agree I just paid $12.88 at Target this weekend. Although I am a die hard hand drawn animation buff I think that some of the cgi stuff is alright. I haven't been able to see it yet as it's a christmas present for DS

I must say that I would never pay $29.99 for this or any movie, not when you can get it at Best Buy for much less. I got the movie the day it came out and paid $13.99 at Best Buy and I got a specail deal and got another Christmas movie for only $5.00. Look for deals before you buy.

But as far as the movie...it was okay. I was not thrilled with it. It was not what I expected. Not the new format or anything, just the short movie clips. I agree with a previous post that I a never had a problem wathing an hour long christmas special.
I think the movie gets :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2: out of :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2: .

My kids 8,6,and 2 have been watching it on the DVD player in our minivan all week. My 2 year old DD runs to the car and screams "Minnie,Minnie." Just to be clear we have numerous other DVD's they could be watching, but they just love this movie. :flower:
