Anyone have a laminate wood floor?

We have it in our bathroom and I want to install it on other rooms as well. When we put it in, I got some advice that you don't want to use Pergo in area's where it could get very wet, bathroom, kitchen, etc. unless you protect it, so basedo on the advice we got, we used about 4 thin layer's of "Spar" varnish - it's a special varnish used for wooden boats. You have to put on the coats very thin, let them dry for 12 hours, and lightly sand between coats so it was a pain to get done, but it gives it a very hard protective finish and we haven't had problems with streaks using a wet swiffer.

I still love that floor, still looks great.

We have Pergo in our kitchen and natural hardwood floors throughout the house. The Pergo is MUCH easier to care for. DH and I lay the Pergo ourselves, would NOT recommend this if you want to preserve your marriage -- it was a trial I sure as heck don't have any desire to repeat. But its done, and it looks great. If I ever moved from this house I'd have Pergo throughout.

A little off -topic, but I also have laminate flooring and housedogs. I'm scared to use the Swiffer wet jet after reading an article about the chemical in the swiffer causing liver disease leading to death in house pets. Anyone else read this?

We have Pergo throughout our downstairs, on the steps to the second floor, and in the hall upstairs. We love it!! We have area rugs in the middle of the family room, living room, and under the dining room table. We also had ours processionally installed.

Personally, having the Pergo installed on the steps instead of w/w carpet was worth its weight in gold. ::yes::

Snopes says this is urban legend...though I've heard a vet say it was true. Swiffer

We have Wilsonart laminate flooring. We did our entire first level. Dog hates its. Rabbits don't really care for it. Have to sweep a lot, but it really does look great.

I debated between Laminate and hardwood. I have a golden retriever and did a lot of research. I choose hardwood. I choose incorrectly. If I had to do it over I'd go with the laminate.
