Anyone have a good recipe for Chex mix?

My DH loves Chex mix and his mom makes it every Christmas. We have really cut down on Christmas decorations at our house this year since I'm 8 months preggie and I'm afraid the baby will be born right when it's time to take them all down and put them away. So to make up for the lack to decorations I want to do a lot of baking.

Any suggestions?

I just use the recipe on the side of the box (it should be on all Chex boxes this time of the month).

I have all my boxes, but it seems I've fogotten the butter.

I usually make the recipe on the box but this year I'm trying a new one with a twist. Here it is......


NUTS AND BOLTS

17 OZ BOX OF RICE CHEX
17 OS BOX OF CORN CHEX
17 OZ BOX OF WHEAT CHEX
SM BOX OF CHEERIOS
1 BAG SLIM PRETZELS
1 BAG FRITOS (NOT INDIVIDUAL BAG)
1 CAN MIXED NUTS
1 CAN SALTED PEANUTS
1 POUND PECAN HALVES
1 STICK BUTTER
1 CUP BACON DRIPPINGS
4 TABLESPOONS TABASCO
1 TEASPOON SEASONING SALT
2 TABLESPOONS GARLIC SALT

MIX ALL INGREDIENTS IN A TRASH BAG..MOVE IT ALL AROUND TILL IT IS MIXED WELL. BAKE IN A 250 DEGREE OVEN TURNING AND STIRRING EVERY 10 MINUTES FOR 1 HOUR.

USE ALL INGREDIENTS AS SPECIFIED (YES BACON DRIPPINGS AND TABASCO)

Cranberry Orange Chex Mix

3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup butter or margarine (melted)
1/4 packed brown sugar
1/4 frozen (thawed) orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup dried cranberries

Heat oven to 300. Mix cereals and almonds in large bowl; set aside.

Microwave butter, brown sugar and juice concentrate in 1 cup microwavable measuring cup uncovered on High for 30 seconds; stir.

Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture, stir until evenly coated. Pour into large roasting pan.

Bake uncovered 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes. Stir in cranberries and cool.

My family has designated me the official Chex Mix maker. They all agree mine is the best. Here are my tips. Follow the recipe for original Chex mix (on the box or on the website. I think it's chex.com), EXCEPT double or even triple the amount of Worcestershire sauce. It really gives it a kick, and more of the pieces get coated. I also don't use bagel chips. My family loves mixed nuts so I put some generous handfuls of that in. Instead of pretzels, I use pretzel sticks.

We love Chex Mix during the holidays. I only make it at Christmas and New Year's because my family would eat it nonstop if I let them. We also love Chex Muddy Buddies.

I'm not sure of the receipe but it is very good. It has rice chex, peanuts,and I think pretzels. Then you take melted white chocolate pour it over and let harden. It is wonderful. There might be things I left out but that is what I remember.

Why, heck no, city slicker! You see here, you put cha best overalls on and ya go out back and git ye a good sized hawg, then ye....

I know, bacon grease! Guess I'll purchase some bacon and make some BLT's and save the "drippings" for the Chex Mix. Honestly though, I don't think I have the heart to use an entire cup of the stuff!
