We are finally into double digits until our trip! :Pinkbounc Now my DD keeps asking if we can count down our days. Does anyone have anything special that they do, besides crossing off days on a calendar or doing a chain (which would be too long at this point!).

Thanks!

I know the calendar sounds cliched, but my DS loved it! I made my own on Word, using Disney clip art etc and on the bottom of each day, I typed how many days to go. We crossed off a day each morning at breakfast.

DS is already asking for the new one, but since we are still more than 9 months away, I'll probably wait until we hit 100 days.

Came up with this idea a few years back and have been using it to "count down" to things ever since....

Use a piece of that thin foam board (it's postor-board sized... comes in different colors- you can get it a Walmart/Craft stores.) In the center of the board screw in two short screws that are level and equally spaced out. You can then make "number tags" to hang from the screws (you can punch a hole in the top center of 3X5 cards). Each day change out the "number tags" to however many days you have left until your trip. Decorate the board as desired!

We even did one to count down until our wedding- everyone loved it!

ve done the calendar idea also for the last month. I bought Disney stickers at dollar store and they got to put a sticker on calendar instead of crossing out. I made calendar poster size big enough for each of them to put a sticker on.

The last week I bought different little things and wrapped them up, put them next to their beds with a note from Tinkerbelle. one little thing a day socks, hair tie, lip gloss, crayons whatever I find Disney themed and the last night an outfit was left for them to wear to the airpirt (usually t-shirt).

When my son and I went for our first Halloween trip, we made up a paper chain with orange and black construction paper and Disney stickers and hung it in his room. Every day we tore off a link of the chain. I can still remember the look on his face when we tore the last link up. :)

We did something similar to those advent calendars you find at Christmas time. I drew a map of MK, printed out pics of different attractions, and glued them in the appropriate spots on the map. Then I taped a Hershey Kiss or other small candy over the picture and wrote a number on the wrapper (or next to it). The kids had to find the next number, and then they could see the picture underneath. The kids LOVED it, and I had tons of fun making it. I plan on doing it again, for all 4 this time.

:cool1:

I know you were looking for something other than the paper chain way, but my niece loved it. I typed up several attractions on a sheet of paper to make the chain. Since she had never been before she would ask about each one and we would tell her. By the time of the trip, she was so excited. I can't wait to plan my next trip so I can do another one!
