Anyone had luck with "stacking" National coupons?

I'm just curious if anyone has had luck with stacking coupons on National's site, and then having them honored.

I know the coupons all typically say cannot be combined, but if National isn't going to honor them in combination, why do they have a spot on their website to enter up to three coupons?

I have a confirmed reservation where I stacked 3 coupons, and saved about $90. However, I don't want to be suprised, and will just use my Alamo reservation if I have to.

Any experience out there?

You can use different sources for ID's and coupons. Not multiple coupons.

Dan, if they don't honor multiple coupons, why do they have a spot right beside where you enter your coupon number for the quantity? I've been wondering about that.

The AMEX code worked best for me.

There are, or were, one or two coupons that could be stacked. AFAIK the only one that currently can be stacked is an upgrade coupon that is given to some frequent renters. The spot is on the website is to accomodate those few circumstances in which multiple coupons are allowed.

It would make sense if National could program their reservations system to idenifty "illegal discount stacking" but common sense and the terms of the coupon are pretty clear. If you go to the grocery store you can't use multiple coupons to get an item for free.

I was told those extra spots are for people who earn "free days" coupons as you can use multiples of them. Its not for multiple coupons.

I'm glad this was explained. I was also wondering why you would be able to select multiple coupons.
