Anyone had a room across from the Laundry?

I'm a little concerned. When I booked my August 30 Western cruise with Room 6088 I thought that there was nothing across the hall from us - because the Disney provided deck plan showed nothing there. Now I see in the Passporter that the laundry is directly across the hall. I'm worried that it is going to be very noisy. Has anyone been in a room near the laundry that can tell me what it is like? Should I try to switch to another room?

If it were me, yes. I know somebody's got to be in there but it gets busy and most of all, hot. I can't imagine that the traffic wouldn't bother a person, even a little bit. If you stay there, I'd ask for a bit of compensation of some sort, if at all possible.
Best of luck,
LMS

We had room 7592 on our July 4th Eastern Cruise last year which is directly across from the laundry room on deck 7 and I was more concerned with heat than noise so I gave that room to my MIL & FIL and we took 7132. Well, it turns out that neither noise nor heat was a problem AND they got the plexiglass verandah and we had a metal one! Since your bathroom and the hallway separate you from the wall of the laundry room (which has no machines on it anyway) unless you are a super sensitive sleeper, I don't think you will have any noise problems.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for that report because we are in room 7586 and I know that is close to the laundry room as well.

No, but I once dated a laundry room attendant...

A FABulous girl, she WISKed me right off my feet. We would SNUGGLE watching the TIDE come in ALL evening. This attendant was a PURE(X) delight with BLEACH blonde hair and white, almost CHLOROXed, teeth. I remember the day we broke up, GAINing another memory - yes, that one FINAL TOUCH. And so it goes.

Thanks for the laugh Buckaroo's Dad - I needed that!

And thanks for your replies. I am going to try to change to a different room.

That was good, I needed a chuckle!!!

We were on the 4 day on the Wonder in Nov. room 6590 right across from the laundry and we had no problems at all with noise or heat. Usually only one person from a party will do laundry so they are not in there chitchatting and since you have a.c. and a verandah in the room, heat is not a problem. I also liked it because you did not have any doors shutting loudly at all hours from a room across the hall. Good Luck and have fun.

Unless they have changed the location of the laundry room on deck 6 or added a second location, it is directly across from room 6588 (starboard), not room 6088 (portside). We were in room 6588 for our cruise aboard the Magic in October 2001.

We feel it was a lesson learned and will know better next time.

Downfalls--the foot traffic, people standing in the hallway talking while you are trying to take a catnap, people not watching their kids-we had a toddler banging on our door with a sand shovel, people knocking and asking us for change or telling us about a problem-what did we look like, guest relations??, the heat from the dryers coming in under our door-we got good at stuffing towels under the door to block the draft.

Benefits--the convenience of being so close, being able to keep an eye on our things during washing and drying cycles, having the spring time scent of dryer sheets drift in our room and work like an air freshner!

In the future we will ask for a room 5-10 cabins away in either direction.

6088 is NOT across from the laundry room! Happylady is right. :)

Well, it might be across from the back wall of the LR, but trust me, you can't hear a thing! We were in 6094, across from a wall that is either a smoke stack or the laundry, and it was very quiet.

The door to the laundry room is on the 65XX side, not the 60XX side.

Don't change, you'll be fine! :)

The Passporter has been known to have a few flaws...this may be one of them. You should e-mail them and let them know so they can fix it in the update.

That's what we've tried to do. It seems more important to be closer to the laundry room when on a 7-day. We don't find much use for anything other than the iron and ironing board on the shorter trips. You have to keep an eye on your clothing, though....if you aren't there right when it is finished drying or washing people have no qualms about taking it out themselves and laying (or tossing) it somewhere.

Oops - I meant to say that we had booked room 6588 - sorry for the confusion! 6588 IS the room across from the laundry. I called this morning and switched to 6096 and I feel much better now. Can't wait! Thanks for everyone's input.

We have been across, beside and near the Laundry room on 4 previous cruises in the past. We usually stay Cat.10 on Deck 2. We have never had any problems in the past and it is very convenient. We have requested the same room for our 11/8 magic cruise to the Western Carib. We like this area. We usually are early to bed and early to rise people and have never been bothered by the noise or the heat. :D
