Does anyone recall any couples which have had their wedding on the beach that Disney Weddings offer?

I really want mine there but there are a couple of things i'm worrying about?

1. the weather - i'm marrying the first weekend in December - what the weather like and what the alternate place they will have me do my vows if it does?

2. Chairs - wont these sink into the sand? (although I will be asking about the seating shown in the beach wedding pictures on the DFW website)

3. Other guests .... i dont want pictures containing people in swimsuits in the background.

Right .... i'm off to trail through the thousands of TR's to see if i can find any beach weddings?

Thanks

The only one I can answer is the first, if it was bad weather you'd be in the WP as far as i'm aware.

There was a bride who had her wedding on a the beach a while back. I don't remember if she finished her TR but HTH :goodvibes.

oh thank you - i shall go read now (work is so boring, I really cant be bothered to do anything today!) he he

December is Orlando's driest month, so the chances of rain are low. And, as Chilly said, you get the WP as a backup.

Yes, but not more than a few inches.

You're not allowed to swim in the lakes at Disney, and the GF beach is not close enough to the GF or the Poly for sunning, so no one will be wandering around the beach in a swimsuit when you're there.

Again I can only answer the first one! Were getting married the first week of December, we chose then because of the historically low rainfall. The temp is quite up and down, we have picked a mid day ceremony so hopefully it will have heated up a little :)

I really like the idea of getting married on the WP beach - I am sure DFTW would block off the area etc, and you would have a fantastic back up loction .... the wedding pavillion!

to be honest, I must be the only bride that doesnt like the WP (I know - wash my mouth out!).

However, id prefer that to a normal room with just seats in it! So its not the worse that can happen if I do have to have it in there.

fingers crossed it doesnt rain:thumbsup2

We did!
Our entire wedding was a beach/subtle Little Mermaid theme.
Not crazy about the idea of posting our photos publicly though so I don't have a PJ or ceremony pics here.
As others have said, the wedding pavilion is the back up location. The weather was iffy for our (April) ceremony but luckily it held out. I was okay with the wedding pavilion being the back up instead of a standard ballroom but I'm with you, I am not crazy about it and prayed for no rain.
To answer you question about the chairs, my planner said the seating used in the photoshoot was more for a small escape wedding. We had about 80 guests so that wouldn't work for us. We could still have it but it would've been VERY expensive!
The standard chairs you get for a beach ceremony are the same chairs they use at Epcot dessert parties (they look black to me but apparently they are not). We chose to pay for white folding chairs but we also could've paid for chair covers for the dark chairs. I don't think they sunk into the sand at all. The sand at that beach is pretty tightly packed. I did leave my heels in the car and wear flip flops for the ceremony, which I think was a wise choice.
Our planner kept any onlookers away from the ceremony. The beach is private enough and angled in a way that you shouldn't have people in the background on the GF/water side. We may have a small boat or two on the lake in the background in some pictures but it's not really noticeable. Our planner did say we had some onlookers on the grassy/hilly side of the beach, which she chased away so they wouldn't be in our pictures.
We chose to decorate very minimally and spend more of our budget on our reception but there is so much you can do to personalize the beach decor-wise. You can even add an arch if you'd like.
I loved the location and would definitely recommend it!

Thank you beach bride 2010.

Your advice is very much appreciated and respect your decision on the photos (even though I would love to see them he he)

It sounds like you had roughly what I wanted (minimal because i'd rather spend the money elsewhere).

Thanks for the heads up on the seats on the DFTW website - i'll get that idea out of my head now - although i'm only having an escape so it may still be possible.

Can you have an escape wedding on the beach? Its not on their list of locations.

I read here the other day of an escape bride who was having her wedding on the beach :confused3

if i have to upgrade to the wishes package then so be it .... I REALLY want my wedding on that beach so if i have to pay the extra 2.5k to upgrade (i'm having a desert party so minimum is 7.5K) then I dont mind!:thumbsup2

good question...can you have an escape wedding on the beach??? and exactly where on the beach is the ceremony???

I would think that they would do an Escape wedding on the Beach subject to the same rules/restrictions of Escape weddings in the Pavilion. The two locations are kinda considered one and the same except that so many more people choose to have their wedding inside the pavilion than outside on the beach so you don't hear much about beach weddings. You still use the wedding pavilion's facilities. We actually took a lot of our posed family portraits inside the pavilion because it was very hot the day of our wedding and we wanted to bring eveyone into the air conditioning after they had been outside for quite a while. Since you have the pavilion as your rain location, you pay what it costs for the pavilion and have both the pavilion and the beach reserved for your time slot.
There are a few differrent ways you can set up the ceremony. You can have the wedding pavilion as your backdrop or part of GF/the Contemporary/Space Mountain as your backdrop or I was told you can even go the other way and have the monorail as your backdrop. I guess your location on the beach would change slightly depending on which way you chose to do your set up.
