Sorry, this is long: We are currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark but are moving back to Iceland next summer. We have been checking out houses for a while now, mostly just on the internet though. We have 3 children and 1 on the way and we really would like a home with 5 bedrooms. However, there aren´t very many of them on the market and the ones who are are quite old. We having been searching within only a few new neighbourhoods, since we really would like a new house where we could be part of the process from early on. Well last weekend a house was put up for sale which is just perfect for us. It is in our dream neighbourhood, has 5 bedrooms, is on 1 plan and just next to the school and sport facilities. They haven´t even started building yet, so we can´t see it, but the will finish by May (which is just perfect because we plan on moving in July). Only fault is, it is a little bit over our budget. Not much, but still enough to make me uneasy about buying it at the set price (considering that changes we would like etc. might be costly in the long run). Sooooo, we made an offer today which stands until monday. We expect that the seller will make a counteroffer and hope that we can meet somewhere in the middle.

If you have some pixie dust to spare I really would appreciate it. This would be a dream come true and a wonderful future home for many years to come.

Thanks
Freyja

Good luck! Maybe the seller/builder would rather take the $ in hand now and not risk waiting for someone to offer more later.

BTW our neighbors are from Iceland. Some interesting traditions you have there. I drank "fire water" and ate a piece of "marinated" shark this past Spring. Is it true that many homes there are built from concrete blocks?

That´s interesting. Are they working in the US? You sure got to taste the best Icelandic cuisine has to offer :teeth:
Regarding the concrete blocks: Almost all houses in Iceland are made of concrete, however I believe only a small part of them are made of concrete blocks.

Good luck!! Lots of Pixie Dust coming your way! :)

Freyja -

Yes, my neighbors are working here. She is a surgeon (I think she is in her residency) and he is a lawyer (but he is working for a firm in Iceland). They are very interesting and friendly people.

And concrete blocks - maybe they said concrete and I jumped to that conclusion.

They had a child here a little over a year ago and she is beautiful. I don't know if they are planning to stay, but I would sure be sad to see them go.

Is there something different about the concrete block homes there? We have them here too.

Good luck on the house!!

Sure thing. Pixie dust on the way.

Lots of pixie dust and good thoughts coming your way!:D
