My teeth have been hurting BAD the last couple days. It started with just a couple teeth and now it's both jaws:mad: I've tried everything I can think of, Advil, popsicles. They're not working very well though.
So anyone else got anything else I can try? I slept a whopping 2 hours last night because I was tossing and turning trying to find a position I was comfortable in.
My biggest problem is, I can't figure out whether it's my sinuses making my teeth hurt, or vice versa, so I don't know whether I need to call the dentist or the doctor:(

Motrin really helped me. :) If you are stuffy and blowing green and yellow stuff out of your nose, it could be sinuses. Does your face hurt? Have you been congested?

Oh, also, try and sleep "sitting up." Put a bunch of pillows behind your back to stay upright.

Toothaches stink. Good luck. :)

Orajel works really well, so does a heating pad. Try to avoid eating/drinking things that are super hot and super cold. Either can really aggravate it!

I hope you feel better soon! :wave2:

You might want to try this. My dentist recommended it once for an absys tooth. Take two Tylenol and one aspirin or ecotrine at the same time. There is something that happens with this exact combination that works wonders. I've tried it and it does work. I use ecotrine because aspirin bothers my stomach. (I used extra strength tylenol). I thought it was my sinuses too at first but it turned out to be an abysis.

Hope this helps.

You need to go to the Dentist. It does sound like it could be an abscess - which can be very dangerous if left untreated. One way to tell if it is an abscess is to percuss the tooth (tap on it with the end of a spoon )- if it hurts - it is probably an abscess.

Tooth pain from sinuses generally occurs in the upper teeth, not the bottom teeth. (I don't know which teeth are hurting this is just a FYI:D )

One more thought - it could be TMJ - if that is the case a Dentist or Orthodontist could make you a splint to relieve the pain.:wave2:

What's an absis?

She meant abscess - this is where the tooth becomes infected - this infection can travel if not treated.

It's an infection either under the tooth or in the gum. They are quite painful (but not always). Sometimes just a dose of antibotic clears it up.

Yes, antibiotics will clear it up - but it will more than likely come back if the proper treatment is not done to the tooth. A tooth that abscesses usually requires a root canal.

Alright, now I reread a post. Whats TMJ?
And if you purcuss the tooth, how bad will it hurt if there's a problem? See, here's the thing that makes this a little more complicated, the tooth that's hurting, the most is one that I broke about 10 years ago. It's since been fixed and I was actually at the dentist's 3 weeks ago and everything looked fine. When I tap the tooth it doesn't feel any worse than it does on a regular day.

TMJ - is temperomandibular joint pain (the joint used to open and close your mouth). The cartilage in this joint can become thin and bone rubs on bone in some cases. In other cases the jaw is out of alignment and causes the joint to hurt. Tooth clenching at night time can also cause TMJ.

If you percuss the tooth with a spoon, if it is abscessed - it will hurt pretty badly.

Another FYI - teeth that have been involved in accidents or badly broken are more likely to suffer an abscess. Did you have x-rays when you were at the dentist? This is the only way to catch an early abscess.:wave2:

Wonderful
No I actually didn't have x-rays for the first time in a long time. They just switched to digital x-ray films which were bigger and they couldn't keep it in my mouth long enough (gag reflexes).
Guess I'll have to tell mom to call the dentist in the morning. Or maybe at least admit to her that my teeth hurt:(

My tooth and gums were killing me. The pain was very bad. I couldn't sleep. It effected my sinuses gave me headaches. The problem was I needed a root canal in my upper molar. I lived for two weeks on 4 motrins every 4 hours. Eating anything killed. So I fought the fear of the dentist and had the root canal. I feel 100% better. Nothing can be worse then tooth pain. Motrin and tylenol is what the dentist recommended. The problem is, it was a temporary solution not a 2 week plan. My suggestion would be to see a dentist. Don't wait like I did.
