Anyone good at photo editing? Part 2

To do this correctly you would need to upload the original to Flickr.

I did not see the previous photo in your photostream.

Like the previous posters mentioned in the previous thread, this is not easy and I do not have the skill set to even attempt this repair.

That's why I went ahead and tried my best to edit it.. The above picture is what I have so far... Wishing I had the patience to fix it after working on it for so long..

I was intrigued by the title of this thread. I love to photo edit. When I went through to flickr and looked at the initial photo... wow! The basic problem is that you cannot color correct info that is not in the picture.

The places where the flash has completely blown out the image would have to be drawn back in by hand (in Photoshop or the like). Sadly I think it would come out looking more like a drawing than a photo.

Of course that is my opinion, I could be wrong.

Could you edit the above picture?? The one I edited??

Just curious, is there a reason you want this picture so badly??? It would probably take some major work to get it looking decent. Maybe, sadly, just count it as a loss. :( Also, what was the flash reflecting off of?? Was there something behind them, or were you shooting through glass??

I also tried to creatively process this shot.... didn't turn out too nice though.

I do want this picture because I don't want to regret the picture, for one..

I believe the flash reflected off of glass.. I don't remember exactly what it was..

Could you send me a private message of the "creatively processed" picture?? Would not mind seeing it.. :)

Trust me, EVERYBODY has had pictures that they really wish were usable, but unfortunately were not. Those "failures" are more of a learning experience, if anything. So don't feel too bad it didn't turn out exactly like you wanted.

I actually tried doing something with the original shot; but quickly realized the flash was too much. So it's been deleted. Sorry. :(

It seems the best thing to do is to wear the exact same outfit and attempt to pose similarly against a similar backdrop and then mix the two photos together if it is that important to the OP. That's a lot easier than what the experts are stating here and they would know. That action would also provide a better result.

What the experts are saying is that without knowing what you look like really, they are left to their imagination of what to fill in. The data simply isn't there for them to work with.

Drawing a smiley face on your head is analagous to what you are asking them to provide.

Whenever I have a picture that is not really usable but I want to save the memory, I edit it as best I can like you did, then I print it out on my own small like a wallet size or even a little smaller. That way you have your memory, but with it printed small, the imperfections are not glaring at you as much.

Wow!! Never thought of that!! :D Wearing the same outfit with a similar background.. Might have to do that :)

Might do this too... :) I don't have the right type of wallet that has a mini photo album, though..

Actually the same outfit on a background that is solid and has a decent contrast in color from you and your outfit. Photoshop cam cut out your face from one image and then you can use it on the other picture. The distinct difference makes it easier for photoshop to find the edges.

However NOT a white or glossy background. They might create a halo or a similar reflection to what the flash did to the initial shot.

In the end the advice to move on and don't worry about losing the shot. I have litterally thousands of missed shots. When you try too hard for a perfect shot you often times miss the good ones. It has gotten so that my wife shoots backup on the family stuff with a point and shoot camera.
