We are leaving wednesday and just found out we are about 6 weeks pregnant. Any advice or tips. It should be ok to go this early right?

We went this past may and I was just entering my 12th week. Everything was fine, but I did get very tired. My best advice is to make sure you take plenty of breaks, drink plenty of water, and don't ride any of the rides that they advise against riding if you are pregnant.

Hubby and I went and we had a great time. We just relaxed and took in all of the magic. I didn't feel rushed to do anything. I slept in when possible and took mid afternoon naps. Also, I had made all of the dining before I found out I was pregnant, so all of the dinners were late - 8:00 p.m. or later. I would not recommend eating this late. If you can get earlier times, then rebook your times if possible.

We found out I was pregnant 4 weeks before we went on our trip, so I really couldn't redo our dining.

I went a few years ago when I was about 8 weeks. I didn't have any problems, but I made sure not to ride any of the rides that advised against riding if pregnant. So, I did miss out on a lot of rides, but I still had a great time. There are plenty of other things that you will be able to do. Have a great trip!!

I was 8 weeks pregnant as well. I did fairly well but did tire more easily as PP said, and needed frequent breaks and water. Also, I was more sensitive to different scents, and was a bit nauseous when walking the halls (and especially in the lobby, near the restaurants) at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and at some other dining venues.

Also, DH and I got to the airport late and did not get seats together on the plane. I was stuck in the back row in the middle seat. I would recommend an aisle seat if you're flying - just in case you need to get some *fresh* air or take a little walk to ward off nausea.

These were minor inconveniences however, and the trip was great. Bring some Tums and have fun!

I spent a day at Disneyland when I was about 10 weeks pregnant with my first boy (he just turned 12 - yikes!). I went with my parents, my sister and my mom's cousins who were visiting from France. It was a pretty tame crowd so there was no commando touring or anything like that going on. My DH stayed home to work and he's usually the coaster freak!

My dad was on the trip with us and he was just getting over having a mild heart attack. He and I warmed a lot of benches during the trip! We rode the easy things like Pirates, Small World, Haunted Mansion, etc. We sat out of Star Tours and a few others. I remember being very tired and still a little nauseous in the mornings. I shared a room with my sister and she woke up every morning to the sound of my saltine wrapper crinkling!

I think you'll be fine. Just use common sense on which rides you choose. If you have to sit anything out, just think - you'll get to go back someday with your child and have even more fun!

Congratulations!

I went in June 05 while 6 weeks pregnant and had a great time! Take naps, drink water, sit down when needed, and have snacks available. That was my big problem - I went from hungry, to starving, to ready-to-eat-my-own-foot in a matter of minutes!

Now is the time to enjoy the shows you might usually skip and to look around and think of how much fun you'll have when you take your LO to WDW!

We found out we were pregnant (about 6 weeks along) just before our 2002 trip. That little bundle of joy turns 4 tomorrow. :goodvibes

I think the previous posters have covered it. Make sure you stay hydrated and rest when you need to...better yet before you feel like you need to take a break.

I didn't have any trouble riding any of the rides. DD was still too small for the Mountains, so that wasn't a factor for us. My biggest problem was our trip from the WL to the MK. Nothing like a lovely boat ride (no buses at that time)first thing in the morning to bring out the morning sickness. :scared:

Congratulations and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy! :wizard:

Congratulations!!!
I would recommend bringing some crackers or cookies with you, so you have something whenever you need it.
Make sure you do get some rest and drink a lot of water!!
Have a great time!!

Always have something to snack on or drink to help with nausea if you have it. I was so sick that there is no way I could have done WDW, but here are some things that did help: peppermints, lemon hard candy, ginger ale at room temperature, and eating small frequent meals making sure to get protein. I hope you don't have to worry about any of this, but just in case!

We just went in May when I was around 12 weeks pregnant.

We took it easy on that trip -- just did Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I didn't want to do Animal Kingdom since it always seems so hot and there were many rides I couldn't go on. We have the luxury of being able to go yearly so it wasn't a big deal to miss out on stuff. I took alot of afternoon naps and had a lot of early nights -- I would get so exhausted!

I told my doctor we were going and she basically said to drink alot of water and use sunscreen. She didn't seem too concerned about Disney (other than not being a big fan!).

Use common sense -- rest when tired, try to stay in the shade, drink lots...

When in MK -- I recommend the frozen Raspberry-Lemonade drink behind the Magic Carpet ride. Yummy!!!!

Have a great trip!

I didn't go during my first trimester, but did go in the summer months at 7 mths pregnant with my third. I didn't do any of the rides with warnings and made sure to drink LOTS. Of course, you want to check in with your doctor before you go for any advice.

Personally, I always found the first trimester the most exhausting. You body is working super hard and if you haven't begun to feel it yet, you will shortly. Try to take it easy and rest as much as you need to. You might want to get some advice about morning sickness before you go because if you haven't started with morning sickness yet, that too could be right around the corner. I had horrible, horrible, horrible, heartburn with all three of my kids and it started very early on. It was actually my very first sign that I was pg with my second. So, you might want to find out what medications you may need that would be safe during pregnancy and take them with you because you might not find them easily when you need them. Tums were a big MUST for me. Also, my docs allowed tylenol, but not ibuprofen. Sudafed was ok, but some other cold meds were not. Get a "just in case" list from your doc and bring anything you think you 'might' need. It can't hurt to be prepared.

Have a great trip!

And CONGRATS!

I went when I was about 6 to 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I'm lucky in that I never get morning sickness. I don't even remember being tired.

I would just say take it easy and drink lots of water and pack lots of little snacks.

I didn't limit myself on any rides and dd#3 is just fine. She's 4 now.

Congrats!!!!
DD went in first trimester with DGD, and second with DGS.
Her OB/GYN told her she could ride pretty much anything with less than 4 G's.
Which is pretty much everything.
I am an RN, and in my head I know that nature protects the littles. BUT...
She avoided the Roller Coasters, spinning stuff, and ToT. To humor me, but also to avoid morning sickness.
She did do the Kilamanjaro Safari but it freaked me out; it was so bumpy and jarring that I was a basket case. Please don't ride it. Humor me. :goodvibes
She just rested often (not because she wanted to; she NEEDED to) and took special care to stay well hydrated.

I went at 16 weeks and 21 weeks pregnant, and enjoyed every minute of each trip! I was able to take a lot of breaks while my DH rode rides without me, and I got some awesome pictures of him coming down the falls on Splash Mountain! I stayed hydrated and ate well, and my DH was actually more tired than I was!! I guess technically I was 2nd trimester, but I didn't feel any different than in my 1st...

YEAH!! Congratulations!! I went when I was around 6-8 weeks pregnant and was lucky enough to not have any morning sickness. I DITTO the importance of staying hydrated. I brought my own water bottle into the park, and made sure that I drank every 30 minutes, no joke. I went in Aug, so it was pretty hot.

As for the rides, I know that some providers say that it is okay to go on the roller coaster type rides, but I just wouldn't. I felt like if something bad happened it might have been because I rode on ToT or something, so I avoided them. Not to mention that I feared the nausea thing and didn't want any of those rides to trigger anything. However, I did go on the Safari.

Have a great time on your trip. Yes, take lots of breaks and drink lots of water.

Congrats again!

Thanks so much for all of the advice. I will avoid all the bumpy rides and drink lots of water. I know it will be ok.
Thanks!!

I went 2 wks after I found out that we were pregnant and I had the best time. It was wonderful being at the happiest place on earth and just atht you are going to have a baby, it is really hard to put into words. It was great being able to go and still have a good time, WDW is great because there are still so many things to even though you can't ride the big rides there are still so many things to go on and experience. We also went to Universal and they offered several viewing areas for expectant mothers that didn't move, but you could still experience the attraction. It was a real magical time!

My last trip I was 12 weeks along and still did some of the big rides that they tell u not to while expecting.I did test test, safari ride, dinosaur ride. Being on them before I knew what to expect its up to what u can ride and not ride.Only will know what u can ride.Thats if u have been before and already know what to expect.

Congrats!!

I have been to WDW while around 12 weeks & seven months. During the first trimester I rode everything that I wanted to and felt ok riding. When I was preggo with my first ds (just turned 6) dh and I rode the Tower and then would hop off and walk/run to Rock-N-Rollercoaster and back and forth until about the fourth time when I said I had to stop, lol. I rode to Mars and back and tested out the Track :) . I didn't know I was pregnant so when I got back home and realized it a week, or so, later I asked my OB if I had scrambled my precious baby. She assured me that the baby is in soooo much fluid and is so cushioned that the chances of anything happening were pretty slim. When I was around 12 weeks preggo with our second ds (just turned 2) I again rode anything I wanted to but for some reason I tired out easier during that pregnancy.

You are really early in your pregnancy so if you have doubts check with your ob, otherwise ride what you are comfortable with. Enjoy!!
