I know that this weekend there will be another event for prospective and existing DVC members. Anyone going? I never received any type of mailer or email regarding this. Anyone know of the promotions being offered?

We signed up, but did not get invite via email. Call the Schaumburg office if you are interested.

We are Associate Members. I received the email for the one in spring. I did not receive it for this one. My MIL, the member, did get the email for this one. They are offering it fewer times than the one in spring. I got suspicious too because there was no thread. In spring, there were several.

It's a busy weekend. They are signed up for Thursday night. I don't think any of us will go with.

We're supposed to go Friday night but I have a miserable cold. I'm not going to feel like fighting traffic after work.

We'll be there tonight!

My in-laws live in Elgin and are going tonight. Don't know if you'll get this in time. FIL is tall-ish with thinning white hair. MIL is average height, fairly skinny, lightish/strawberry blond. They're both pretty social.

Expecting us to get the "stuff" they giveaway.

I'm guessing by the little bit of swag, it's a push of Aulani.

I'll let you know what I hear.

I imagine there were not many people--too late of notice, not enough options, downtown Chicago on a weeknight, just did one a few months ago.

They're fun. We said we would go anytime they came.......to Woodfield.

I'll be there Saturday morning. Anybody have insight to what the incentives are and for which resorts?

Just finished the Mickey rice krispie treat. Got another re-usable bag and notepad. There were the binoculars which we are giving to DD--cheap. We got the luggage tags too.

DH didn't think his parents really understood the incentives. He thought it might be an Adventures by Disney promotion/advertisement because they said the characters were all dressed differently. One was in Italian-wear, etc. In spring when they were promoting the cruise, they were all in cruisewear.

They did come home wanting to add-on at BLT, so maybe not all was lost.

But I have no details because the in-laws weren't so interested so didn't pay attention. Or DH didn't ask the right questions. I know, my DH is the only one with that problem.

All this waiting is driving me nuts! We are looking to add-on, if the incentives are good! :lmao:

Ok, this is the first one of these events I've ever been too so I didn't know what to expect. The Arie Crown Theater was a very large room with probably between 75-100 people there....it was a Thursday night after all downtown.

It was intended that everyone there was already a DVC owner. When you came in, you got a reusable bag - kind of like those ones you get at the grocery store now instead of paper or plastic. They were blue with DVC logo on them. Inside was the 2011 points chart, a genuine pleather notebook/portfolio pad with the DVC logo on ito, and a booklet highlighting disney destinations. You filled out a card to enter the drawing at the end of the night and they handed you a little clicker that allowed you to vote as they were polling the audience throughout the night.

The event was hosted by two DVC cast members and the Wishmeister, a sort of corny comedian all dressed in white. There was also a group of four acapella singers that sang tunes throughout the night. Sorry this shot turned out so bad, but my iPhone couldn't handle it. The Wishmeister (tall guy in white) was really glowing with all the stage lights.

Since the event was intended for current DVC owners they spent a fair amount of the time talking about places you could use your points other than Disney - a pretty nice looking hotel in San Francisco, one in New York City, a ski resort in Colorado, the Destinations by Disney trip to Egypt, etc. They also talked about the SS Member Cruise (booking 10/2/10 for a 9/18/10 sailing). There were a couple of people in the audience that were raving about previous SS Member Cruises.

They talked a bit about Bay Lake Towers and the Top of the World lounge. Then the talk turned to Hawaii. We got to see some construction photos, a promotional video (probably the same one they showed at the Aulani kick-off) and a second video from Joe Rhoede.

Along the way we got luggage tags, some small binoculars, and a Mickey Rice Krispie Treat.

Then they trotted out the incentives, all for Bay Lake Tower only. Mind you, I had no intention of adding on and the incentives really didn't wow me, but your mileage may vary.....

125 point add-on $10 off per point, $500 Prepaid Visa Card
160 point add-on $10 off per point, $750 Prepaid Visa Card
200 point add-on $10 off per point, $1000 Prepaid Visa Card
250 point add-on $10 off per point, $1250 Prepaid Visa Card

After that they did the drawing. A $250 Disney store gift card that went to the lady sitting in front of me.

Then Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto came out for the dance party.

Sorry for the pics not turning out as well as I'd hoped. I only brought my iPhone with me and the lighting was kinda tricky.
