It opens on Nov 9 and I know I cannot go. Someone was already in line for the 5000 gift certificate as of last Friday. First 100 people get a free chair. Let's face it there is no way by Nov. 9 I will even be able to get near the place but I was wondering if anyone is planning to try?

We're going to go. We're not trying for any freebies or anything. We'll head out late morning/early afternoon to pick up some bookcases

:confused3 Having lived my entire life in MA I have no idea what IkEa is? Is Stoughten correct or is it Stoughton?

Cthia--IKEA is a snarfy new Furniture store they are opening in Stoughton. It's off of Rt24 by where Jordan's, Home Depot, and Costco are.

I figure I'll wait for the hubbub to die down, and then head over

What else is in the area?
Its about an hr from me. Is there a Kohl's or mall around there?

Thank you Deb. I haven't seen any commercials for it but then again I don't have much time to watch much tv. I guess I'll have to check it out when it calms down. I am not a huge fan of checking out new places when they first open up.

I don't think it's been advertised on television at all. It has been in the local papers, though.
vacanut, there's a costco and Jordan's near there. Honestly Ikea is an all day experience in and of itself.

I've got a whole group going - we're caravaning over! I know it's going to be crazy and we probably aren't going to be getting much shopping done, just checking it out.

There are lots of other stores in the area - Christmas Tree Shop, Jordan's Furniture, Home Depot, Costco - those types of stores. The closest mall is Westgate Mall in Brockton, one exit down. Not sure if there's a Kohl's there.

Heck, I drove to New Haven, CT to go to Ikea, I can go to Stoughton! :moped:

There is actually a Kohls' one exit up on Rt 24 heading North.

DH and I can't wait for it to open but we're not going near it on 11/9...we'll wait a few weeks. We went to the Ikea store in New Haven about a month and a half ago and bought tons of stuff for our new home.....it will be great to have a store closer :)

We just received their catalog in the mail today -- along with a note stating store opens 11/9/05 at 9am.

I don't remember requesting the catalog on their website. It's addressed to DH or resident. If I requested it, I would have put my name. So it looks like they are mailing out catalogs.

I've got some shopping to do for new house. :teeth:

If you send me the airline ticket ~ I'll come over and try it for you.

:cool1: I just heard a commercial about the IKEA store opening in Stoughton on the local radio station. Of course they had a lot of disclaimers like a car ad. :rotfl:

I'll be going once the newness dies down. I don't like dealing with opening day crowds.

I've visted the one in New Haven, CT too but only on our way back from my sister's in PA. I never made a special visit to it.

My siblings are BIG Ikea fans so they are very happy!

Saw on the news this morning that the person camping out in line is from Georgia! Can you believe it? I wonder if it is an unemployed person and this is gross but, where do they go to the bathroom? I just wonder what these people do who camp out at places for long periods of time for things like this. If there are two of them then I can see one holding the place but this time it is only one and no one can hold his place when he leaves so am I to assume he just holds it?? :rotfl:

My DH just told me the same thing! He heard it on the radio. He said the guy is a college student. He also told me the guy in second place gets $2000 gift card.

Whats so great about it? what makes it different from any other furniture store like jordans?

Not sure but my sister says its because it's neat, contemporary stuff, very cheap! I think it's ok but it's certainly not my favorite place.
