YIPPPPPPEEEEEE --- CONGRATS!!!!!

Thanks! pirate:

Today was the last lecture, Friday the last clinical. Still working on the last care plan. I get my RN pin on the 14th. :cheer2:

I was reading the posts, I got a Palo's reservation but unless one of you wants to come with me I'll be by myself...I just didn't want to miss out! :p

I do not own a yellow scarf, but I have a santa hat with mickey ears, will that work? :sunny:

I've been going on disneyshopping.com buying disney stuff to wear on the cruise. I don't have anything fancy yet, maybe I'll find something once school's over. (Of course I start a new semester 1/15--I only have 6 more classes for my BSN!)

I am so excited to meet you all! Only a couple more weeks! :cloud9:

I bought a Disney Christmas Tree hat w/ characters...its so funny and cute. You can dine with us at Palo. How did you make your dining Palo reservations? Online?
My kids are so excited and so are we, my co-workers are jealous. We went to Texas for Thanksgiving and went to Sea World..my sister works there and it was soo much fun, just made me want to go to Disney even more. What nursing book do you need? Do you need an NCLEX? Hows the IV's going? I have to say I can stick em pretty good and haven't missed one in a long time (now watch me miss one tommorrow lol).
I cant believe its less than a month away....yeah!!!!

Has Anyone heard that you can bring on your own drinks? I mean like a 12 pk of diet cokes and some water bottles? I was told you were allowed by some friends of mine..is that true?

Yes, you may bring your own drinks if you have something special that you like. Soda is provided free at all meals and at the soda station on deck 9.

Anything you bring needs to be in your carry on. No roll on coolers or ice. There is a small chiller in your room that can hold the drinks, but it is not very cold. We use baggies of ice to make it colder.

I bring my own wine and wine glasses. No problem....even the time that I brought 32 bottles on. I was sharing with some friends.

You can even take glasses of wine into dinner without any problems. Just don't take the whole bottle or you will pay a $15 corking fee.

And will you be wearing your pin? Such an honor, and Congrats again....

If you wish to join swoosie34 for dinner, you both may wish to go to the reservation desk for Palo's - check in your navigator when you board, it is not held at the resturant but normally on deck 3 or 4......Then they can place you at the same table. You may wish to PM each other with the dates and times in adance to see if the ressies match up.

I have a Santa Hat - no ears though. I'll toss it in the suitcase. As for fancy clothes, I'm fortunate to have attended Christmas events in the past - so will look forward to taking of these outfits. (No gown on this trip - that is saved for formal night on the 7 day).

Hi Swoos;

Yes I made Palo reservations online but I don't remember which night now.

NCLEX would be great! I have to remember to look up which one I have. When did you take your boards?

I haven't had much trouble with IVs, I only have had two that didn't go, one was on a woman going into surgery and the vein blew, but then the anesthesiologist and the surg nurse and another nurse stuck her about 6 times before finally getting a patent on on one of her lower legs. :thumbsup2

The other one was recent, a 96 year hold dehydrated woman in ER. I started one and missed the vein :furious: and the RN with me couldn't get it either at first but he did on the second stick.

So I'm ok, then again I haven't done THAT many! No NG tubes yet, either. No blood administration...but tomorrow's my last clinical day so maybe I'll get a patient with everything in ER! :) :sunny:

Still finishing up my critical care care plan, congestive heart failure and diabetes and chronic renal failure. Working up 3 more nursing diagnoses... :stir:

I spoke to someone who's been on the cruise and they live nearby. They said they bring cases of water and stuff and a cooler on board. :smooth:

I also read on a board somewhere that you can order groceries from some local grocer store and they'll deliver to your WDW resort, OR some of the shuttles will stop for half an hour at a grocery store on the way to the resort. pirate:

Something to think about! :wizard:

OK then I'll wear my nursing pin :cheer2: and my mickey mouse santa hat. How cold is it there in December? I am having a hard time figuring how warm to pack...here and in So CA where I'm from you'll get 30+ degrees difference in temp when the sun goes down, so you carry a jacket or something everywhere you go. :sunny:

I'll have to figure out where my Palo's reservation info is-it's someplace on line-and I'll let her know, thanks.

Anyhow maybe some advice from you would be a little helpful? I always overpack...maybe I can try to avoid some of it this time??? :smooth:

Thanks!

I'd advise caution on a cooler - the official literature from Disney says that "no coolers are allowed". We have all heard about the folks that use the soft-sided or roll-ons, but do you want to chance it? And no ice....is allowed.

As for the temperature here - boy - it can vary lots. We have been known to flutuate between the 30's and the 80's in December - a lot of help I am - right? And if you are going to WDW - it can be cold, esp. around the lake at Epcot - so maybe some warm and comfy sweatshirts? I was at WDW the first week in Jan and it was in the 20's.....brr...They sold out of gloves.

Thanks for the information, maybe the people that supposedly took the cooler went a while ago and the policy changed or something. Who knows. I'm flying from across the country so I am not toting a case of soda with me, and I'm not renting a car, so unless one of the shuttle drivers stops at a grocery I won't be able to bring contraband soda anyhow! :guilty:

OK so I guess I'll have to back the traditional layers, sweats, long sleeves, and jackets and slip in gloves in case it's cold. We'll manage somehow! :woohoo: But I sure hope it isn't 20 degress when we're there. That would be awful. :furious:

Had my last clinical in ER today, it was pretty exciting, bank robber with 5 GSW!

All I need to do is the final on Tuesday. I am finishing up my paper now. I just heard back from my instructor, I am a high B now. If I get a 100% on my paper and a 95% on my final (which nobody every does) then I can get my A for the class. Looks like I'll be getting a B more than likely.

I am 1 hundredth (.01) of a percentage point on my cumulative GPA from graduating with honors. Such a bummer. If I get an A I will get honors if I don't I won't.

Oh well! C'est la vie.

Can't wait to meet you all!

By the time you have been practicing for a year, all the grades in college will fade. The patients will remember how gentle you are with the IVs.....But I will send you some pixie dust for an "A"... :tinker: pixiedust:

Even bank robbers remember :rotfl2:

You do know that there is free soda on Deck 10?

Yeah that poor guy was trying to rob a pharmacy, has a drug problem. H really wasn't stupid, he was just wrapped up in an addiction and desperate. I was actually feeling sorry for the poor guy.

He was talking about his kids and then he was trying to refuse treatment because he wanted to die, life wasn't worth living. He was pretty young, in his 20s or so. He was in a lot of pain.

I couldn't do much, but I did make eye contact and touch him and speak softly to him, and remind him when he was talking about dying about his kids. What do we tell them? What would they think? :confused3

Poor guy was just miserable. I kept thinking how did he get here? Once, he must have been a 5 year old, fresh faced, going to kindergarten with the hopes of the world before him, and something went way wrong.

Philosophical today, huh? :lmao:

I only just found out my room number and I've never done this cruise thing before so I am reading all the guides and trying to figure everything out. Thank you for the pixie dust! :goodvibes maybe it will work!

I will keep you posted.... popcorn::
