Just curious if anyone cruises, yet stays away from the expensive shore excurisions and photos they sell on the ship, etc...

It's seems you'd be able to get on the ship, go to the ports and really spend a miminal amout of money.

What do you all do to save?

DCL does the saving for me by providing so little in the way of accessible excursion information that they automatically save me money...As for the photos...as photogenic as Cash is I only saw one photographer interested in snapping a pic....Got off the ship with only paying out for well-deserved tips....

Thanks for the great thread. DW and I are facing some tough financial times right now ourselves, but the cruise was paid for before the hard times happened, and it was too late to cancel.

We will not do any shore excursions, except those we create on our own, and we will be bringing our own snorkeling equipment for CC. Plus, we don't drink, so that isn't an issue. I did pay for REAS, so we will get Palo's and Spa in that, but those will be the only frivolities.

Are you doing the Wonder or the Magic? We don't spend a lot of money onboard either. While in Nassau we go to Cable Beach. It's beautiful and it's FREE. My kids had an awesome time. You don't need to spend any money in Castaway Cay. It's amazing just relaxing at the beach and eating a wonderful buffet lunch. It's paradise. You can bring alcohol on board with you. During the day there isn't a TON to do so enjoy the pools! At night there are more things going on than you can keep up with so relax during the day. You'll have a great time~!!!!!!
