For the past 2 days I've been getting a lot of e-mails. Many names I don't reconize but the subjects have funny titles and All have attachments. Today I got 16 e-mails and I did reconize some of the names from past trades. I didn't open them. but e-mail one or two people asking them if they send something.
They didn't .. so be careful. Something FUNNY is going on.

What ever you do, DONT DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHMENT. We have had the same problem over on the all star boards. there is somebody going around using the email info that we have on the boards and sending a WORM VIRUS with the email. This is a copy of the thread that was done on the all star board, so just be carefull. if you have an ANTI-VIRUS program and it checks emails, make sure you use it.

--If you received *ANY* email from *ANYONE* that has an attachment that you are *NOT* expecting, *DO NOT* open the attached file!! The emails we're getting are arriving with subject lines such as:

--"EZBoard, Inc."
--"A good tool"
--"Worm Klez.E immunity"

and some sample file names are:

--sans.zip
--fallstarpintradingteamfrm1.zip
--Xn.zip

....to name only a few.

So just a heads up for ALL board members.

Thank you for the info

I just wanted to post because I notice that the names are from the board.

I get the e-mail but Zone Alarm blocks the attachment and gives me a warning. I've gotten tons of them too.

.....this problem is popping up on many pin boards....not just here and on the All-Stars board.....the best thing you can do, like Mike mentioned, is to not open any attachment from anyone (even if it's someone you know), unless you are expecting an attachment from that person, *and* you know *exactly* what's in that attachment. Also be sure to run a virus scan with the latest viurs definitions against the file. It's also smart to run an independent scan for the virus on your own computer.

And of course, delete like crazy in the meantime!

Good luck!

Christy

Thanks for the warning. I delete emails whose name I do not know/recognize. And I rarely open attachments & my friends know this :).

Ditto what JudithM posted. :)
But I think we still had something last week. I swear nothing odd happened prior, but DH thinks I did something. Men.....
Anywho, about a week ago all my Inbox e-mails disappeared except one older one for DH on the WDW marathon. Actually ended up not being a big deal.
I need DH to get a newer version of Norton. I'm sure something happened.... I bet it came from an Eisner/Disney plot! :jester:

Please be aware if you get anything that says it comes from info@pinpics.com we never ever mail from that email address. Britt said that we have had bounces from it though so some type of virus is just out there surfing and grabbing info emails from websites. The virus doesn't infect the website just uses the email address of info or webmaster whatever so be careful.

It can come from anywhere too! We got one from my DH's company....you would never think NOT to open something from your own workplace.. The second DH opened the attachement it attached itself to everyone in my address book and sent emails....I have just been deleting anything with an attachment since then. I don't care what it is, if its that important they can email me before they send the attachment and tell me what it is.

I've gotten some, too. And I've gotten some that when I tried to open them I got a message saying that the page didn't exist or had been moved. I go through my email a few times a day at work, so I guess I'll have to be REALLY careful about what I open. All I need to do is infect the whole office network because of an email about pins!!!!! That would go over real big at raise time!!;)

A lot of the moderators at Dizneypins have been receiving quite a few emails of this nature. In doing some research with Larry, we found out that with this virus, you can infect your computer just by opening the email. The best advice I have is to not open emails you are not familiar with. If you have received any emails from us over at Diznepins, please delete them. Dizneypins if just a forwarding email address, we can not send any mail from that address.

Also, make sure you do a stand alone scan on your computer. This virus causes your virus protection on your computer not to recognize it and so therefore, skips right over it.

Mary is correct!! My husband got it on his computer just by opening an email. No attachment!

We have updated with Norton so thank God we are safe. We each got 2 more today!

Please be careful!

I received an infected email also. It tried to give me the virus WITHOUT opening the attachment. Fortunately McAfee caught it and I deleted the email immediately. Thanks for the warning on that.
