We just got the dining plan added on yesterday and now I am trying to figure out meals and reservations for our trip in January. It is actually kind of stressful! ANyone else feel this way? Even though I know parks we'll be at on certain days I am not sure if we should do a breakfast buffet or a dinner buffet, etc. Wow! I am overwhelmed!

I am right there with you and I can't even book mine yet! We are going to have the deluxe dining plan. I love the idea of not having to budget for meals. But now I have 24 meal credits each that we need to use. I keep thinking to save time in the parks we should go to character breakfasts. A counter service lunch and then a table service dinner. We eat three meals a day at home and at Disney. But at home I don't have to decide what those three meals are going to be six months beforehand! To top it off, nobody wants to give me an opinion. The just happily say plan it! The only request is T-Rex which isn't on the dining plans but we will do that the day we leave for lunch. Robbie tells me I shouldn't stress about vacation. He has no clue! He does love going though.

I am as well. This is the first time I have not really laid out what day what park. Instead I did what day with what restaurant we could get into, and then I still have a few left so I am hoping that people booked a few to many reservations each day and we can get one of the ones they drop. It is the nature of free dinning a I guess.

YES!!!!! That's why I'm here at 11pm reading threads. LOL

I am making a list and checking it twice.

YES!!!

I have decide to go with the DDP since we are the taking advantage of the 4/3 nite offer... & our trip is less than 2 months away,, just try to find reservations for that...eek!

I got hoop-de-doo, but not sure if its worth 2 dining credits.

we are very flexible,, but some places have nothing available for the whole week.

We are also doing the dining plan for the first time in Jan. I booked the package Thurs. night, and we spent most of Fri. planning where to eat. It was really stressful! I called WDW DINE Friday night, and got almost everything we wanted. I couldn't get Chef Mickey's, they had availability, but not at times we wanted. I'm excited about DDP, but a little worried about having to plan the vacation around where we eat........
We have a party of 10, (including three under 3yo), and the plan is easier then having to figure how much to budget for meals. Good luck to you all!;)

We were just there a few weeks ago and the days we had a adr for lunch were my favorite. It was great for us to take a break in the middle of the day and relax for an hour or so.

I'd say that it's best to plan your touring around ADR's, but only if you CAN'T get online and see the EMH for the date you will be there. For instance, I just booked for June. I think I can call and get my CRT and CM ADR (or at least soon). I will plan those out and then plan other days at the parks. I didn't look to see if the EMH calendar was out for June yet, but I also can't make a normal ADR yet, either (the system is only working until March right now).

I think going to a non-EMH morning park would help get a lunch or breakfast ADR and going to a non-evening EMH park would get you a better chance of a dinner ADR in a restaurant. Does that make sense? Think of it this way- if everyone from the resorts will already know they can get to a park early or late, don't you think those people would plan accordingly? That's been my strategy and it's worked great so far, with the exception of EMH mornings at Epcot, where I got the pickings of any restaurant I wanted for an early lunch...But at MK or AK, getting the ADR you just have to have and getting there on EMH are two conflicting strategies because of the small selection of restaurants.
