I have to go away for a week for work at the end of the month and will be very busy before that...just IN CASE I have some weird reaction, I think I'd rather wait til early November.

Yes! Because of disabilities I have to get one every year - sometimes having to track them down and waiting for hours - but I got lucky this year. I walked into the supermarket yesterday and there it was, all set up, no lines, and no fee (my insurance covered it)! Doesn't get much easier than that.

Heading to the Dr.'s office this morning for it!

I got a flu shot about 8 years ago at the constant needling of my boss. Came down with the nastiest case of the flu I ever had that year.

Since then I don't get one and since then haven't had the flu once. Don't know if it's luck, pure co-inky-dink or what. But I ain't messin' with flu karma. :teeth:

They would never get a needle near me unless they convinced me death was imminent, so I do FluMist. :) I'm set to get mine on the 28th at an HEB pharmacy, and DS will get his as soon as his pediatrician sets the date for their evening flu clinic. (Under 14, they won't administer flu vaccines outside the doctor's office here in Texas.) We've already had a confirmed flu case here in Pearland, and I don't want anything jeopardizing our Disney trip!!

I just saw my dr. yesterday and since I am sick with a sinus infection he didn't give it to me.. but my family of 4 will be getting ours next week . I am not taking a chance on screwing up our disney trip next month !! we leave from va on November 3rd I haven't been there since my honeymoon 15 years ago .. my kids have never been
I AM SO EXCITED POOH LOVER DONNA

I will take my mom and we will get our soon, my daugther got the nose spray one yesterday

Dh & I got ours last week. The girls are getting theirs next week.

DH and I've had them the last few yrs with great results and will be getting them later this month.

This is the first yr our public schools are offering the nasal flu vaccine for 5 yo up with parents permission. Personally, I think it's a great idea and hopefully will cut illnesses and absentees. :goodvibes

WE have never done the flu shot. I had thelfu so badly last year, I vowed to get it this year. I am going Oct 17th to Costco for $18.

DD has better ins, so she will get hers 2nd week in Nov at family Dr.

We are doing WDW for Christmas for 2 weeks and don't want to be sick.

Any side effects? How long do they last? If I get mine in Oct, will it last through winter? What is the nose spray one?

Sorry for so many questions..TIA

Got mine scheduled for Oct 31st here at work... :thumbsup2

While it's not 100% effective, it should last through the winter...it's a yearly vaccine. I've heard of some people feeling kind of "flu like" aches, pains, etc....that is what I worry about. The nasal spray is a LIVE vaccine so not recommended for everyone.

My Mom should have gotten it last week at her doctor's office, but I heard it was better to wait a little longer. Her doctor was OK with her getting it now or in a few weeks. (I had heard that the vaccine is only effective for 3 months, and most flus seem to start after the first of the year.)

I always get mine through work. They haven't offered it yet. My son gets it because he had RAD when he was an infant. The doctor's office said they would have it in the end of October.

I "might" get one, as I had the flu BAD last year...
