Not me. Today, my $14.00 bid for a "standard" car was rejected.

($14.00 + fees = ~$19.50/day)

FWIW, here's my bid info:

Airport: Long Beach Airport (LGB)

Date of Bid: May 5, 2009
Car: "Standard" (Chevy Monte Carlo, Ford Fusion, or similar)
Number of days: 9
Pick-up time: Sat., June 27, 8:00am
Drop-off time: Sun, July 5, 8:00pm

Is it me, or does the betterbidding.com web-site seem useless?

I wonder if anyone recently has had any lucky renting a car with Priceline?

TIA :earsboy:

We got our car thru Priceline and will pick it up on Saturday at LGB for 5 days.

We bid $21.00 a day for a compact so with taxes & fees we are paying $139.00.

I forgot to mention that I didn't get this quote until about 2 weeks ago. Before that, everything I was bidding was too low. Perhaps you should what until mid-June and then give it a try? In the mean time, make a ressie with whoever is offering the lowest prices and then cancel if Priceline comes through for you.

betterbidding helped me tremendously with hotwire. I studied it for a good MONTH, to get a handle on the info given, and only then jumped into hotwire.

We didn't get 14/day, but we got a rate we were very happy with, on hotwire. Next time I'll probably try out priceline.

Also, I think you just keep trying, with priceline.

I just got a compact car our of SNA airport for $20.00 a day. I thought that was a great price.

we got a full size car for 22 bucks a day for 173.00 total for 6 days.

Last year we picked up a compact for 15 bucks a day for 6 days.

We are going the same days this year as we did last year memorial for 5 days.

I think you could get a compact for 15-17 dollars a day but standard you would be 18-21.

i thought we got a good deal on priceline for a standard car...$18/day...for 6 days...with taxes, the total came out to be $149.

Sorry to h-jack, but do you find that the cars are generally cheaper the longer you want to rent one for?

Thanks

Not sure on that but I have read you can get a better deal about 30 days out.

We have used priceline in the past for our trips to DL and have been able to get cars for $12-$14 per day. This was with about 2 weeks to go... The closer to your travel date the better chances of you getting a lower price.

The last two times I've gone to LA I've used PL. Last time I got a nice car for $13/day. When I went in 2007 I got a new, red Mustang convertible for $15/day! In short, yes, I've been lucky with PL :-).

What size car did you bid on for these prices?

We got a standard size car... enough for all our luggage and the three of us.

UPDATE: Using Priceline for a Car Rental

My $14.00 bids were rejected 53 days, 43 days, and 39 days prior to my rental date.

But my $14.00 bid was accepted 24 days prior!

With taxes and fees the car rental is $19.27 (per day).

Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Date of bid: June 3, 2009
Date of rental: June 27, 2009
Long Beach Airport (LGB)

Late-June

Has anyone had experience trying to bid on a minivan? I just put in a bid for $18 and it was rejected. Am I way off? We are 25 days out.

I need a one way rental from LAX to SAN for days. June 20 - 29th. Does anyone know what the "one-way penalty" charge is on a Priceline rental? I can't find this anywhere in their policies. They do allow one way rental.
