So we are going to WDW in 5 days :goodvibes (DD - age 5 came down with a double ear infection and vomiting thing today - another story though).

I received an email to check our email while on vacation because special offers were going to be sent while we are away (see below)

This is what the email said:
We'll share special offers available to you only while you're visiting. Some expire upon check-out, so be sure to check your email often so you don't miss out!

Well we do not have any email access devices that we can take with us so it will be hard to check. We are going back 12/16-12/25 so we would love a deal.

Anyone else get this email and know what they are offering?

We are staying at POR - is there internet / computer access anywhere?

Can I just ask the desk what the offer is - will it be attached to my name like pin codes?

PS - we are one of those people that has NEVER gotten despite trying every think in the book 100 times so if it is a deal we will be REALLY excited.

Thanks :goodvibes

I wonder if it's a Bounceback offer?

Congrats and hope you have a great time! Hope your DD gets better soon!!!

from pessamistic me

well with 5 days to go, your dd will most likely be just fine - unfortunately the rest of you will probably be sick.

THere was another post about this recently. Some said they never got anything. Some said they did. I think the bounceback was mentioned. But nothing seemed wonderfully person specific good deal. My thoughts were that it was probably their attempt to get you to get you to purchase internet access to be able to check your email. No free internet.

I think I've read of others who received bounceback notices via email during their vacations. What these people said is that it's the same bounceback that you're told of by calling the bounceback line. I think it's just sneaky to send those out via email when they charge extra for internet access. You can still get the same deal though by calling the bounceback line (I can't recall the number but the concierge should know at least the number if not have a copy of the flyer with the deal; housekeeping should also have copies of the flyer).

The only e-mail we got was the bounceback offer that was advertised in our room. I had internet access for my laptop for other reasons, so it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't pay for the access if that is the only thing you would need it for.
BTW, every hotel has internet access for a daily fee. The cables are in the room and you just plug it into the wall and agree to the charges.
Have a great trip!!
Tish

We stayed at the WL for one night 3/5/10 after staying off site for a week and they no bounceback offers in the room, or anywhere. I called housekeeping and they said they do not have any offers right now. I had my pamphlet from my Dec trip, so I knew to call for a bounceback before I left. When I got to the airport on checkout day, I opened my email and I had an email from Disney Destinations.
Book your next stay before you leave and save!
I needed a Value for early December, and I booked Pop Century for 20% discount before I left the room on check-out day.

They have "business centers" at a few of the resorts. Mostly the Deluxe Hotels and I know CSR has one. There is a fee to use the computer. Just call one of the Disney Resort desks and they can tell you which resorts have the "business center".

If you don't have access to a computer and are ready to book a bounceback, just call extension X8844 from your hotel room before you check out and ask for bounce back code OKR. Give them your dates and they will tell you what is available.

In answer to your question about computer use when I didn't have my laptop, I have paid $15 for 10 minutes of use at the Contemporary, Y&B, and CS. I also paid less than $10 for 8 minutes of use at the Contemporary when I just wanted to quickly access my email. You also have to check their hours of operation...

Another reason I love:love: DIS, someone knows an easier:laughing:, better:wizard: or simpler:teacher: way of doing stuff!:thumbsup2

Yes, we actually received 2 - one was the bounceback offer and the other a photo pass discount. Same rules for the bounceback - book while still there etc. There were discounted rooms through Dec 24th, 2010 with some dates not included. We were at WL and they didn't have the offer in the room (just the photo pass discount)

Yes we did this the day before the email came. The CM on the line did want my current res. number though. I didn't have it so they claim to have called the front desk at WL! Who knows but both my daughter and I were able to apply the bounceback rate to our reservation the week after thanksgiving (we already had the PIN but the bounceback was a few dollars less per night)

Yes, they asked for my current reservation number which I had written on the Bounceback offer card from my last trip that I bought with me. I just called X8844, they asked for my current reservation #, and I booked 4 nights at Pop Century for 12/9 to 12/13/10.. 20% rack rate, value season.

I guess they really want to make sure you're checked in (even though calling from an extention from the room) Where in Central NJ? I'm here too!

I'm in South Amboy. We just paid $4800 to have our roof replaced this week, from damages from the storm, worse wind damage we ever had. We also lost our canvas covered car port. I just went down to the county park in SA, and saw all the sidewalks torn up from the storm.

Sorry to hear of your damage. Many roads have huge pot holes here where we are due to the running water (worse than many winters from the salt etc) We are in Somerville - not too far! Have a great trip in Dec!! Have you been before for the Christmas decorations? They are the best!! We go the week after Thanksgiving.

Yes, we are Disney regulars, being retired, we go 3 to 4 times a year. We just got back from staying at the Marriott Cypress Harbor as a "65th" birthday present to my DH from my sister and brother-in-law. They had Marriott points that were to expire so they gave them to us. Very generous. I have been my sister's support system thru the last few years of medical problems, so I think this was also a "thank you" gift to us..
We belong to the Disney Fan Club, formerly NFFC, and they have their Christmas extravaganza in December, so we have gone in Dec the last 4 years. We also did the Disney Wonder in Sept 2009. We have booked the Disney Dream for April 10, 2011, my 65th birthday. I'll never get tired of Disney.

we're here now and I got a few emails from Disney. One was for a gift card we got at check-in for $5, if we went to DTD and put $100 on the card Disney would add $20. Didn't read the email until after we went to DTD but that would have been nice.

Also got one to purchase the photopass CD for $119

And got one about bounceback. All were sent on different days, but we usually get the internet access anyway.

Hope that helps.

I received an email last month while there thanking me for the give a day program. It included a code good until the end of the year.

Anyone else get this email and know what they are offering?

I just came back on Thursday, and I got several emails while I was there. I have a blackberry, with internet access, so receiving them was no problem.

The first was, as others mentioned, a bounceback offer. However, it was the same offer that was on a card in the resort room.

The second was a photo pass discount.

The third had to do with a $5 gift card I was given at check-in. (Why I got this, I have no idea...). The email said to bring the gift card to DTD and reload it with $100 and they would add another $20 more on the card.

That new $5 gift card sounds nice :tink: I hope I get it when we check in next month :goodvibes If not, then I will ask about it thanks to the DIS boards :yay:
