I bought the Kindle Fire, and it arrived just before Thanksgiving. I'm loving the price point and the features. I played with downloading apps and the Amazon Prime functions. I will be using the lending library for sure.
I saw a Kindle Fire cover for $7 on Amazon. I'm not sure it's a good cover, but it should serve my purpose of keeping the screen protected in my purse.
Wow, I'm not seeing one for $7. I found one that someone is selling "refurbished" for $4,500! Why does Amazon even let people do that?![]()
I bought one, played with it for a day and sent it back. I did so just because it would do some of the things I wanted to use it for. If you're just using it as a reader, then it would be fine (albeit heavy).
A few big annoyances:
1. It allows you to quickly set Hotmail as your mail default and it shows you all your e-mail just fine. However it WON'T synch your contacts, so if you want to send someone an e-mail, you'll need to manually type in their e-mail address and contact info.
2. Some web sites simply didn't work. I ran into this with some message boards I visit. I could read the posts but when I'd click reply nothing would happen.
3. There simply aren't that many apps for it yet. I'm sure that this will get better but for now many of the apps I use regularly, especially when traveling, are missing.
So I returned it and bought the iPad. Everything there just works.
Hope that helps.
Can you access the Disboards? That's all I need to know!
