OT - The 80,000th Post Mark

Goodness Me! Another one of those DisMilestones

Eighty Thousand Posts. Where did that come from? Sure sneaked up quick!

This post represents my 80,000 post on the Dis.
And as has been my custom to do, here’s the accounting of this achievement.
So, assuming that there was a minimum of 40 seconds between each post....

I have accumulated the following numbers:
  • 80,000 posts, which if I assume the 40 second rule, amounts to a minimum of
  • 3,200,000 seconds spent on the Dis, which translates to
  • 53,333 minutes, which translates to
  • 888.8 hours...or rather...
  • 37 days

It’s more than a full month of Sundays! :faint:

Congrats on 80K PIO! What a milestone!

I love the photo pass pics, I'd say you made good use of the photogs.

That's okay: I'm an "American" and I don't know what a hot dog is.

But then again, does anybody???

:rotfl2:

Jud

Jud, we probably don't ever want to know, or we'd never eat one again!!! :lmao:

80 G??? Congratulations PIO! Wow! :cool1:

And I always thought Werthers was English???!!! The ads here on TV sure make it look that way. ???!!!

:)

Thank you all Australian cousins for explanations as to why Sep/Oct is a valued time for you to travel. It is a bonus that your schools are open to children taking time out from school which in my mind totally makes sense! Spread the crowds, the heat and the cost. Our schools are unreasonable about it which means teachers and parents are victims of holiday companies that charge premium rates for this captive audience.

Jo and I aren't blessed with children and we love to vacation in Sep/Oct in Florida. The weather is lovely and we enjoy F & W! May is another winner for us.

Still want that Karamel PIO... What have you done..

:wave2: playing catch up on a few threads on my last night in DL. :(. I'm meeting Fran and Alison in a few minutes for a special evening.

Your food pics are making me hungry! Good thing there will be plenty if food tonight!

Jill in CO

I keep meaning to post from my computer and then your thread doesn't pop up and I forget! :headache: so I'll just be brief from my phone.

Karamel Kuche looks so wonderful right now. What I woukd give for one of those marshmallow caramel pinwheels!

Great ANZAC DISmeet! You're right that day was REALLY hot. We were on whatever highway and we went into a shop advertising costumes and the walk from the car to the shop about killed me it was so hot! Good call on the pool, we went to Wal-Mart instead.

You and me both! :(

Not really. I normally love everything involving chocolate, but that is about the extend of it.

Corinna

Then I get why you wouldn't like KK much. It is really sweet in there. :goodvibes

Thanks for checking in whilst on vacay!! Have a great time.

Hope you enjoyed dinner with Alison and Fran. I'm hungry just imagining your meal! ::yes::

Thanks. I want something sweet right now too. But I think I'm going to ignore the 'wanting'.

Yes, it was really hot. I thought it might have been me. At least you would have enjoyed the AC at WalMart.

Catching up, back from my cruise. I had to skip most of the chatting.

You got plenty of delicious treats! I'm happy to see some seafood options. I currently have 3 days booked at BCV in October and need to figure out the rest of the vacation. I had to cancel my original plan of a cruise but WDW works in the budget since I'll already have park tickets.

Your pictures of China are gorgeous!

Sounds like a fun meet aside from the slow service.

Those pinwheels at KK are my absolute favorite! I must admit I've never seen the chocolate item you got. Sounds and looks delicious.

SAB for a couple hours sounds perfect :)

80k?! Wow!!! Maybe I *should* play the games and "hide" - heehee!

Absolutely! I have a lot of fun with the other gamers and the occassional one-line conversations.
:thumbsup2

Welcome back! Hope you had a great cruise. Can't wait to see your pictures.
That chocolate fudge and caramel sandwich is very sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, it's a total indulge.

Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim.

What do you do after spending an afternoon swimming at SAB?

Why....you keep swimming, of course.

I was happy to go check out the Sea with some friends of Moine! Moine! Moine!

When swimming in the open ocean, there are some safety tips to consider. Remember to keep your tray table upright at all times.

Any good little Aussie worth their salt will tell you.....always check out the conditions with the lifeguards. Seems like we’re expecting Choppy conditions today.

All hands on deck and batten down the hatches!

Anyone else coming with me to check out the water?

The water is just fine.

Welcome explorers! So much to see, so much to learn. Let's go!

I love games! Pick me!

If this is some kind of practical joke, it's not funny, and I know funny. I'm a clownfish.

We're gonna race. First one out of the jellyfish wins.

Rules, rules! You can't touch the tentacles, only the tops....

When out swimming, it's always good to remember to avoid sharks. I am a nice shark, not a mindless eating machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself. Fish are friends, not food.

Of course, there are different ways to go swimming. It does help to remember to bring some SCUBA gear.

But if you're a fish, you won't need the SCUBA gear.

Hmmm....I don't remember Mr Ray EVER meeting the divers in the movie?!?!

Alright, we're here, dudes! Get ready! Your exit's comin' up, man!

It sure was. Time to get off the clammobiles!

Turtle Talk with Crush

Would you believe that DH and I had never experienced Turtle Talk with Crush?

Timing was such that it ended up being a 5 minute wait for the next experience. It was just about enough time to check out the little aquariums in the waiting area.

Turtle Talk with Crush opened in 2004; and we had the opportunity to check it out in 2005 but didn't. Problem was that DS was not keen on being in the dark at that age and he flatly refused to head into this area.
But after experiencing the Stitch Encounter in Hong Kong in 2012, we had all enjoyed the interaction enough to ensure that we get here on this trip.

In retrospect, we should have made DS go in back in 2005. Afterall, as we found out some 8 years later, it really wasn't that dark in there.

In 2013, DS was way too old to sit on the floor.....it was "too uncool".

The younger kids really loved this interaction. It really is pretty clever technology where the CM controlling the Crush avatar can actually interact with the kids and effectively customise each show accordingly.

Caaaan yoooou uuuundeeeerstaaaaand meeeee? (Sorry, couldn't refuse the opportunity to practise my whale.)

It had been another fun talk. We left the show grinning ear to ear.

Just a Figment of your Imagination

Where were the crowds? Are they just a figment of my imagination?

Oh wait! This corner of Epcot seems to rather maligned. It's a shame really; Figment of Imagination is a rather cute Disney blast from the past. This exhibit has been here since the mid-80’s until 1999. And then Disney changed it to became Honey I Shrunk the Audience 3D experience.
It changed back to Figment in 2002 when Disney had gotten so many complaints. But I'm not sure that the debate for updating this part of Epcot has settled down since.

I'll leave it to the Disney Imagineers and financiers to work out if we should retire, recycle or rework the One Little Spark.

In this case, the benefit of 20-20 vision would be great. After all, there is a lot of under-utilised real estate in this part of the park to be leaving relatively empty.

Personally, I think it stinks that there is debate about this attraction.

Afterall, I'm rather partial to this purple dragon.

He really does turn my world upside down whenever I'm in here.

My vote is in the 'keep' and rework camp.

I will admit that the displays are rather dated. Afterall, there are definitely a lot more modern animatronics technology rather than using puppet strings.

So, I totally get why some people would thumb their nose at this display and ask for something new.

But what would we do without a little Figment of Imagination?

It would be a rather flat 2D world.

And I definitely need a little music in my life....

.....and the Bright Little Spark in my life.

Still stuck in the 80’s

Yeah. I totally get why people have been calling for this part of Epcot to be updated.

In 1986, DH caught this music video in Disneyland, when it first opened. We thought it was a little lame then and once had been enough. What were we thinking when we ducked in here????

Silly us! Time had made us forgetful. This is STILL lame. 'Nuf said.

DS could NOT believe that we made him sit through Captain Eo. Nor could he understand the Michael Jackson phenomena. Kids these days!

princess::upsidedow

Turtle Talk and Cap't EO are two of the FP+ I got for my parents. Glad to hear that one will be okay!

Love your Nemo pictures and quotes :goodvibes

Having not experienced WDW yet, vintage or otherwise, I don't really 'get' the Figment thing. He does look cute though.

I have yet to experience Captain EO. We very nearly saw it at DLP, but it had shut down for the evening. I would very much expect it to be lame, but if I get another chance to see it, I probably will.
