Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

That Singapore Mahi Mahi was another dish I wanted to try and didn't get around too. I think Mom and I will need to start on the Mexico side this year. Jim and I started in Canada and by the time I got to France I was already full!

Beautiful pictures from the China area. I really need to spend some more time in there exploring! Mulan is high on the list to meet this May.

Nice update PIO,, I love your pic with Mulan. The pics in China of the ceiling are amazing. Lunch looked great too.

I always was blown away with how you managed to plan the ultimate road trip
I have a new found respect for all you had to do I have given myself a full blown headache for the past 4 days just trying to get a reasonable car rental for NY in a few days :headache: rates were going for more than the RT flight Finally I caught a break :thumbsup2 but good grief SO much work :sad2:

If you're a Costco member, I find their rates are usually the best. I also keep checking as the rates change constantly. I hope you find some reasonable rates.

Thanks ACDSNY DH is over road trucker so I let the wholesale club memberships go ..no need for the mega size anything ( except dog food ) Finally got Thrifty for $180 for 4 full days best I could find MIGHT try Priceline one more time, before I go Rates seem to be really high, even ppl on transportation boards saying this

The rates sure seem to be all over the place this year. Have a great trip!

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.:rotfl:

Coconut Ice?????????????

I do not remember that from 2012. MUST have in 2014!

I loved that mahi and the mongolian beef. What I wouldn't give for that right now :thumbsup2

Cute pic with Mulan

Love the Mulan photo! Oh my gosh Mahi Mahi is one of my favourite foods. I bet that was divine! When that's on the menu I look no further...I get snow blindness lol..

China is great at EPCOT isn't it! Oh shucks everything is awesome....( Lego movie song )

I wish it opened earlier though.

YIKES. It that's the rate for 4 days, it definitely seems to me like rentals are pricier this year!

Hope you have a great trip to NY and visit with your aunt.

Thank you everyone for your help with potstickers :goodvibes I don't mind me a good dumpling, so it will be good to know I can go ahead and order them if I see them on the menu :thumbsup2

PIO I wasn't able to stay for lunch at the January DisMeet, can't remember why. We did have a previous dumpling based DisMeet, but I say you can never have too many dumplings!

I was under the impression that Mulan had a meet and greet area at Fantasy Gardens, but I believe she may have been replaced by Chinese Donald on our last trip. And the previous trip we didn't make it to Fantasy Gardens at the right time for characters (would you believe it when we were there for 4 days :rotfl:). Yes, she does also appear in the Golden Mickeys as Ping (it just happens to be my favourite part of the show). But would you believe there were technical issues the last time we were there and they skipped the whole Mulan section :furious:

Definitely next time :thumbsup2

We have to plan another Melbourne DisMeet. We should do dumplings. As you said, you can't have enough dumplings. :goodvibes :rotfl:

I didn't even check out Meet and Greets in Hong Kong when I was there. Next time. Shame you missed out on the Mulan section at the Golden Mickeys. :sad1:

Lol, Chinese Dwarves. I like it. Maybe that's why I thought they looked more cutsie than imposing as they were intended.

One thing I really enjoyed was that circle-vision movie of China. It bought back so many lovely memories I felt a tad emotional after watching it.

I saw it in 2005. I didn't go in again this trip or in 2010. Maybe next time. I'm hoping to get to Shanghai at some stage...especially after the Disneyland opens there. :thumbsup2

So many blissful bites. So little room in the stomach. That Mahi Mahi was really delicious. Hope you get to try it this year; and that you get to meet Mulan in China.

Thanks Angela. :goodvibes

That coconut ice was something my family really enjoyed.

Thanks.

I wish WS opened earlier as well. It doesn't have to be all year long....just for F&W. I loved the Mahi Mahi and like you, I didn't look too much further down the Singapore menu.

I think that's a great idea re WS opening earlier during F & W. I would like to see them open the stands for breakfast...that's my favourite meal!

This is embarrassing but I've never known what ' 'potstickers' were

I'm with you!

:)

Jud

Sounds like I've done a community service then. You're welcome ;)

Ahh thank you for making me feel better! Would it be bad to divulge that I am of Asian descent...

Most appreciative of the education Mam!

:rotfl: Ahhh Shushh. I suspect that next time you're in the US, you might be ordering some potstickers. :thumbsup2

Great community service, Zanzibar. :cool1:

Breakfast is one of my three favourite meals in a day. :thumbsup2

If I had to pick a meal I would have usually said dinner I guess as I get older I have changed, I LOVE a good breakfast lately Sadly I'm sure they would never open early not cost efficient

The Smell of Sugar in Germany

I had somewhere to be at 1.30 pm; but as this is me on vacay, this little fact had very little to do with all the terracotta warriors in China.

I was achingly close to a firm favourite of mine and I figured there was still time for me to head in the opposite direction to indulge.

Much as I liked looking at the miniature village in Germany, there really was one thing here that would be impossible for me to resist.

Kuche Karamel is now 3 years old and it had become a firm favourite when I was last here in 2010. Heading in, the smells inside are still as enticing as ever.

The smell of sugar, by way of Caramel, is sweet.

The smell of sugar, by way of chocolate, is richly unctuous.

The smell of sugar, by way of a cookie, is so enticing.

The smell of sugar, by way of an apple, is fruity.

The smell of sugar, by way of popcorn covered with caramel and chocolate.....is surprisingly balanced salty sweet.

And balanced it all was in here! Sweet, sweet and yet more sweet!

My sweet sugary treats?

I really can’t resist the double chocolate fudge caramel layered sandwich.

Or the chocolate coated strawberry.

I think it was on the way in that I came across this Disney princess. My luck was holding today; it was a short queue and I did a quick Meet and Greet.

And the photopass record.

And don't ask me what was going on with my tongue here. I guess maybe all that Karamel Kuche was sticking to the top of my palate???

DisMeet #8: Pure Insanity! Travelling over 9000 miles for an ANZAC DisMeet

I have a habit of trying to fit in as much as possible whenever I'm on holiday.

By this stage of the day, I was running close to the wire for making my next DisMeet.

Believe it or not, this DisMeet involved a number of ANZAC Dis-sers that had travelled over 9000 miles just to meet with each other at WDW. Yes, we can be an insane group of travellers!

In actual fact, September/October is one of those really popular times for us to head overseas so it was always going to be on the cards that a fair few of us ANZACs were going to be at WDW at the same time.
So it really was quite logical for us to travel that distance to meet up with each other.

Our meet was meant to be outside Mexico.

But it was so hot that we individually headed for the area opposite where there was shade. WanderlustNZ, myself and Jade+3 pretty much met up in this area and I made sure DH took a record of this DisMeet.

We waited for the fourth Anzac to pitch up and collectively made the decision to head into La Cantina de San Angel. Insane we might be, idiotic we are not......there was airconditioning in here!

This is the objective evidence of the DisMeet with everyone present.

In case you're wondering who's who....WanderlustNZ, Jade+3, GrazingGoat1966 and myself.

The longest wait time for me today was here. It took forever to get drinks at the window.

It is still a rather small pool of ANZAC Dis-sers hanging out on the Other Lands section of the Dis. And as is the case with any small community, we tend to know who the regular and semi-regular posters. We're also a little bit guarded about sharing too much information about who we are and what we do on an open forum; so the conversations on the foums tend to be superficially deep and deeply superficial about anything and everything.
So it was fantastic to get to spend the time getting to know each other and to find out who we were in 3D life.

I had a great time meeting you all! Hope to do it again.....closer to home; without the insanity of travelling 9000 miles.
