Anyone from Vermont?

My husband and I are thinking of going there for our 10th anniversary (it's in Nov.) but we'd actually be going in Aug.

Anyway, we are quite interested in the Stowe area and these two places in particular (Innsbruck Inn, and Ye Olde England Inn). Can you offer any advice, suggestions, ideas on what to do or see. What the weather is like that time of year. Anything helpful. Please and Thank you.

August is nice but October would be better for the folliage. Stowe is a beautiful area. The Trapp Family Lodge is a nice place to visit. You will need to visit Ben & Jerry's in Waterbury as well. I know there are others from Vermont on these boards as well so I'm sure you will get plenty of ideas. I hope you enjoy your stay when you visit.

The vermont teddy bear factory, there's a horse back ride they'll take you out in the mountians on Icelandic horses (the name of the farm excaspes me right know I'll ask my mom she still has the brochure. cabot cheese, and so many more I just can't think of them all this am. But I'll keep thinking

From VT but not too familiar with the Stowe area. I agree with coming in October if you can. The weather and foliage is beautiful and there are a lot of fall events, crafts fairs, etc. that are a lot of fun.

I lived in Williston VT from 1970 to 1980 (my teen years). I came to Texas in 1980 to attend UT Austin, but I still miss Vermont sometime.

Our family's favorite place to take visiters was Smugglers Notch (in the Stowe area). Beautiful scenery and lots of places where you can climb around on the rocks. The Shelburne Museum (approx 1/2 hour from Stowe in Shelburne) is also worth seeing.

I was there in 1970 for my honeymoon. Not much to do there then, but I am sure it is very different now. There was so little to do that the only restaurant we could find open (it was May ) for our wedding night dinner was a hot dog stand.

The next night we drove about 10 miles to a recommended restaurant. Walked in and the first thing we saw was a bigger than life size poster of Rene Levesque. ( you may have to be Canadian to get the irony of that one ).
