I am thinking of a trip (3hrs 45mins) to a couple of Malls in the area. One is on West Big Beaver Trail or something similar and the other is an outlet mall in Auburn Hills? Just wondering if they're worth the long trip?

I am looking for Neiman Marcus amongst others...

Thanks!!

I'm not from Troy but I'm from the vicinity so I've been to both of those malls. The outlet mall you're thinking of is probably Great Lakes Crossing. I haven't been there in a while but the last time I was there, half of the stores were empty and parking was an absolute mess. It could be better by now but from what I've heard from people that have gone recently, it might not be worth such a long trip.

May I make a recommendation? If you're looking for some good outlet shopping. Prime Outlets at Birch Run would be more worth the trip. It's a huge outlet mall that's definitly worth the drive. It's about an hour and a half from me but I make the trip several times a year for good sales!!

Good luck!

Go to Somerset Mall. That one has the nicer stores. It's on Big Beaver. The one in Auburn Hills is more like an outlet mall. They do have nice places to eat though. The Rain Forest Cafe is located at that mall.

I lived in Troy when I was in 5th grade. :teeth:

I know that's of no help but I wanted to share. lol

Annie68 has given you good suggestions. However, Somerset Collection is located between Crooks and Coolidge (not John R). Actually, it is right on the corner of Coolidge and Big Beaver. There is Somerset South and Somerset North (across the street from each other, connected by skywalk). Somerset South is anchored by Saks and Neiman Marcus. Somerset North is anchored by Nordstrom and Marshall Fields. Somerset Collection is a beautiful mall and I highly recommend it.

Great Lakes Crossing and Birch Run are both fun too. I prefer Birch Run and Frankenmuth to Great Lakes Crossing.

Good luck

Not from Troy but I loved a girl in Saginaw, Michigan.
The daughter of a wealthy, wealthy man.
But he called me: "That son of a Saginaw fisherman."
And not good enough to claim his daughter's hand

I live minutes from Troy & altho Somerset Mall is awesome (adore their Disney Store), it's too pricey for me. I prefer Birch Run. As Annie68 mentioned, the chicken dinners at Frankenmuth are wonderful. Stay at the Bavarian Inn Lodge ~ I've never stayed there but people rave about it. Bronners is just wonderful & you could spend an entire day in there if you're a browser! Back to Birch Run Outlet Mall though, the prices are fairly decent & you have a huge variety of shops.

Good luck & happy shopping!

Thaks everyone for your tremendous help! It is so much appreciated::yes::

Sounds like I need a couple of days to see it all especially Frankenmuth as well?

My friend and I are thinking of going sometime in November to do some Christmas shopping and I guess we should plan around Thanksgiving as it could be very busy...

Can't wait!! I am sure I'll be back with more questions between now and then.

Thanks Annie68 for offering to help...I may just take you up on that and ask some more!:wave2:

Mapquest shows Frankenmuth being about 4 hours 12 mins from me so is it about half an hour from the other Malls in Troy? Does that sound about right?:scratchin

I was just in Frankenmuth on Sunday:D It's about 45 mins from my house.
The Birch Run Outlet Mall is great! You'll get a lot of shopping done there!
