Dh has a tentative job prospect in Salt Lake City!

We currently live in Central TX. Dh has been laid off for ~4 months, so any job would look good right now, however, this job looks good just on its own merit. It seems like something that would interest him, along with great pay and benefits.

I'm just trying the idea on for size, wondering what life is like in SLC? From what I've read the cost of living is reasonable, the climate nice, sounds like an all-around good place to live.

Would like to hear from anyone living in SLC or familiar with the area. Things are looking up for us!

Guess not...oh, well:confused3 It is a long way to travel to WDW, guess there aren't many people on this board from SLC, still...sounds nice

We are! We LOVE it here! DH grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and I grew up in a suburb of Boston. We came here for school and have now been here 11 years and hope to NEVER leave! It's a great area with decent weather, great people, small town feel but fun city activities, great outdoor activities, world class skiing, great schools, etc.

The cost of living is on the rise...we bought last May and our home has gone up $150k in value...in our town Kaysville. Business Week just ranked Kaysville as the #2 suburb in America. The schools are TOP notch, ranked in the top 2%. There are many good areas, depending upon your budget and where you need to be. Feel free to PM me for any info. THe economy here is good too and predicted to be so for a while...we are kind of afraid the "secret" of living here is going to get out...;)

I'm from Southern Idaho, which is about 3-4 hours away. Salt Lake is a great place to live. It is popular place with the Mormon folk due to the temple. It is mountainous and it gets its share of winter weather. It is growing like crazy, and the people living there are very friendly. I'd move there if I didn't love it here so much. :cool1:

Well it sounds like a great place to live!:thumbsup2

So now we're in the waiting phase. Geez, I hate that part of a job hunt. Basically, dh had an interview, they seemed interested, might schedule another interview on site. Dh's done all the right moves, sent follow-up letters, etc. So now we just wait..............

I hate it when a company expresses interest, essentially strings you along, then just drops communication. We've had that happen so much we're afraid to even get our hopes up, however, we do need to try the idea on for size.

At first we thought we'd like to stay here in TX, it does have advantages. But SLC really seems like a great place to relocate to. Not like CA, where the cost of living is sky high, or other places with problems with crime, pollution, climates, etc. It really seems like a place we could call home, not just somewhere to get a job to pay the bills. So now we wait..............glad to see there's a direct flight from SLC to WDW:cool1: can't live without my Disney fix every year or so. But it looks like SLC would be convenient for travel to other places as well. So, lets' keep our fingers crossed!

You might try the community board, much more action on these types of things.

I think you can ask a mod to transfer it, but I'd probably just copy the OP and start a new thread over there.

I'm originally from Southern Idaho but have a ton of family that live in SLC. It is a great place to live & a really great place to raise a family. There are so many outdoor activities that you can do there & it is a pretty decent location to live if you like to take road trips since you have a lot of options for places to drive. I think that if it works out & your husband gets the job, it might be a great move & a wonderful opportunity. Good luck! :)

I do hope it works out--sounds like a really neat place to live! Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed we get an offer!
