Anyone from Rochester, NY?

Can you give me some advice on the Hampton Inn South on E. Henrietta Rd.? We have a roller hockey tournament at the ESL Centre On July 10-12 and have booked this hotel. Is it respectable? Is it close to the ESL centre. I've tried mapping it on two different sites and they give me different driving distances.

Any advice on restaurants and things to do would be greatly appreciated!

Hi ! I live about 35 miles south of Rochester. I've never stayed at the Hampton Inn but I know the area and it seems fine-mostly malls,residental areas. There are a lot of chain restaurants like Red Lobster, Perkins ect.. A good web site for info. is : www.visitrochester.com . Good luck !

I am. There is a Ramada close to that where I've paid $30 a night through Priceline. It's listed as a 2* but I think it's better than the Hampton which you're probably paying more than $80 if I'm not mistaken.

Hamptons are generally clean and well run but nothing fancy. I'm sure it will be fine if that's where you decide to stay. It's very close to the ESL centre, a few miles maybe.

Haven’t actually stayed there myself, but BIL did a couple of years ago and didn’t have any complaints. It’s across from Monroe Community College, which is next to ESL Sports Centre. It’s probably a mile or 2 by car to the entrance

There is a fairly new Italian restaurant called Bazil’s that’s right next door – haven’t eaten there, but I know several people who have and liked it. Some other restaurants nearby: Phillip’s European, TGI Friday’s, Jack Astor’s, and one more (I think it’s a BBQ place). There are many more restaurants that are a bit farther away: Outback, Tully’s (sports bar), Krispy Kreme, Burger King, Boston Market, Roadhouse, Bugaboo Creek, Don Pablo’s, Macaroni Grill, Bahama Breeze, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, IHOP, Jay’s Diner and more. Plus, Marketplace Mall is not that far away.

My personal favorite restaurants are Outback, Bugaboo Creek, and Olive Garden. Jay's Diner is a locally-famous place. Oddly enough, I've never been there. I think I'm going to make a point to go soon, though.
