So, we're thinking of going to spring training for spring break next year in Arizona. We've been to florida this year, going next summer, and DH wants to go to some baseball games so we thought we'd try something different. Anyway, looking to maybe stay at the Marriott Desert Ridge...is anyone familiar with it? Also, our DDs will be 9 and 7 and will definitely want to do something other than baseball. Any suggestions of other activities? Is there river rafting in the area we could do? Thanks for any info!

That is actually a really nice hotel/area. I am not sure of any river rafting in that area. They do have salt river tubing but I dont think it would be open until summer time.

Also depending on how long your trip will be you could make a day trip to sedona and take one of the jeep tours thats also fun.

The Marriott Desert Ridge is probably the overall "nicest" hotel we have ever stayed at. We have stayed at "fancier" places and more expensive places but the staff, service, accommodations, facilities there are all top notch. Our kids LOVED the pool area, especially the lazy river. I can HIGHLY recommend this place :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We went to Sedona for a day, we also drove up to the Grand Canyon for a day and went to Crater Nat'l Park or whatever it is called. We spend a day in Mesa?? at a HUGE flea market that was fun to wander around.

Hi,

We did Cactus League last March and had a blast! I found a website Arizona-vacation-plannning.com (Sorry I can't get link to work) to be a great help. We stayed in Tempe ( Go Angels!) and visited Surprise ( Go Royals!) and Chandler so I can't help you with the hotel.

We spent about 2 weeks in the area including a 3 day trip to the Grand Canyon. One thing I would like to mention, it was cold up at the Canyon. The daytime temperature was in the low forties and at night it was 15!! The rest stops off the highway on the way to the canyon were still closed because of snow.

We loved the Desert Botanical Gardens. Being from the East Coast we found the desert amazing! The Phoenix Entertainment book had coupons for it.

Depending on what teams you want to see, you might want to consider using a ticket broker. We found that worked out great for us. One of the games we went to was a sellout (Angels v. Arizona Diamondbacks). The D'backs are a huge draw!

If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a great time!
