Anyone from Buffalo?

My family and I are from Toronto and we've booked the 4 night cruise on March 6th. To save $$ we booked our flight out of Buffalo on the morning of the cruise (arrival in Orlando @ 9:55 a.m.).

My question is, what's the weather like in Buffalo early March? What are the chances of a snow storm which will result in a flight cancellation (which will totally scew us up for the cruise)? I'm always watching the news and it seems like there's lots of snow storms forcing school and airports closures. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Im in Buffalo and well, it could be as nice here as it is in Orlando ro sub artic blizzrd conditions. It's hard to tell. They do a pretty good job at BUF keeping the place going. In 2001 I had a flight on March 5 canclled on Delta but was able to get out later that day on Northwest.

Its too hard to say, so just keep an eye on it. One thing I did find when my flight was cancelled is that on the phone the Delta rep said there was nothing they could do, I didnt like that answer so I went to the airport and was moved to another airline.

I guess my concern would be where your flight is originating. If it has to fly in from somewhere the night before (or even earlier that morning) and there is a huge Midwest or Northeastern storm, the flight could get delayed or cancelled even if the sun is shining here. What time do you need to be in Florida? If you are cutting it close, maybe you should fly down the night before to keep more options open.

So far this year, my kids have only missed one day of school due to weather. That was for an ice storm. However, I think flights were cancelled and delayed right around Christmas Eve and the day before though.

Good luck!

We are also flying in from Buffalo and I was a little concerned because we leave on Friday and January is unpredictable! We are not sailing until Sunday though. I would not think that March weather would be too bad - maybe check the weather network for Buffalo and they will give you a history for that date.

As said in earlier post it could be 65(like it was last week) or snowing in March.
I think Buffalo does a better than average job clearing snow and getting flights out of here. I fly frequently out of here.
They have had other cities here to learn how to move snow and clear runways. I would say short of a major Nor easter somewhere else stopping your flight from getting to Buf in the first place(which does happen) you should be ok. Just give yourself extra time when driving in because car traffic can slow down quite a bit.

Our weather is definately unpredictable but you should be fine. We are also going in March but we are driving. I can deal with driving in the snow but it's the ice storms on the way down I worry about.
