We are thinking of heading to Boston this weekend. Are there any amazing Disney related stores there? We were hoping to go to NYC at the World of Disney Store but the rain and flooding is scaring us. I would love to hear your thoughts on Boston.....any fun things for kids? What is the best shopping malls like?

Hi,
I'm sitting at my desk in Boston as we speak. There are no good Disney stores here. They were revamped a few years back and they're kind of junk stores now IMO. There certainly is lots to do here, though, especially next week. The malls are probably what you would expect anywhere, better in the city than the suburbs, depending on where you'll be staying. If you'll be right in the city, you should check out the mall in the Prudential Center or the shops at Copley. If you want to shop outside, Newbury Street is lined with shops and restaurants and is a really nice place to spend a few hours. Hope that helps!

Fanuel Hall and Quincy Marketplace have fun shops there as well. :thumbsup2 and I agree with ruzer28, no good Disney stores.

Have a great time in Boston! Too bad the Red Sox aren't in town! :goodvibes

This weekend, Boston is having their Harbor Festival, with all kinds of stuff happening. There is a huge navy vessel docked in the harbor that is open to the public, some street fairs, bla bla bla.

You won't be bored!

Definitely Fanual Hall and the Swan boats. The Science Museum and Childrens Museum are really cool, too.

Don't forget the Aquarium! I second the Science museum, and unless they've updated the children's museum I'd skip it (most children's museums in other cities have been much better). The disney stores are nothing special, and other than Fanuel Hall and Quincy Marketplace I wouldn't specifially go hunting down any mall-type places, they're exactly like everywhere else.

I'll just warn you it's going to be PACKED with everyone arriving in town for the Pops. If you're looking for something to do with the kids that's different in MA, how about Salem and a whale watch? Or the Cape is lovely as well, though again, Fourth crowds.

And don't forget to go to the North End for a nice Italian dinner and have some seafood too while you are in Boston too.

I just love going to Boston to tour.

Great time, great food.

Hi,

if you do come to Boston have a great time....one word of caution, if you are just winging it, make sure to call ahead to make sure there are rooms available. The Lions Club is having some sort of convention here and there are supposed to be about 15,000 Lions and their families coming in.

Ditto previous comments on the Museum of Science, Aquarium etc. If you are not staying in the city proper, check out Rockport and Gloucester on the North Shore. Ogunquit Maine is a great day trip, only 90 minutes from Boston. Of course there is the Cape, which is always mobbed but fun to visit. Head South to Conn and RI and visit the Mystic area in Conn or Newport RI.

Whatever you do..enjoy and have a great time. If you are here on Tuesday, the fireworks over the Charles River are not to be missed.

Have a great time and eat alot of seafood!!

If you go to Fanuiel Hall make sure you eat Boston's Best Fries, they are to die for

What I always suggest to people going to a new city is take one of the city tours. In Boston the Duck Tours are alot of fun. You'll see a little more of a city and maybe find something along the way that you'll want to see close up. Others have mentioned the regular spots. I'd also say take a harbor tour. Most start in the area near the New England Aquarium. If they're too crowded try the commuter boats to Hingham and Quincy just tell them you want to ride round trip. Its usually about $5pp. You wont get a commentary or anything, but you'll get the views (especially the Quincy boats as they stop at the airport and that offers a nice view of the city). Also if its open, try going to the observation deck in the Pru or Hancock Tower. Excellent views of the city.

Heading down to the Cape is almost crazy. Roads are small and traffic is nuts. Try Plymouth or even the Buzzards Bay area (Onset and Bourne) nice beaches, great small resturaunts that are easier to get into and there are a few tours there. Nice boat tour that goes through the Cape Cod Canal from Onset or you can also catch a Whale Watch tour out of Plymouth.

Enjoy!!

Defianetly the Aquarium and the Science Museum if you have kids. Fanuiel Hall too.

Did they take the Disney Store out of South Shore Mall? I have been a frequent visitor to Boston and that has to be one of the best malls there. It is a little ways south of the city, but a good mall none the less. Have fun I MISS Boston!

If you are driving from Toronto we found the best route to take is to drive the 401 to Gananoque (sp?) then go down highway 81, then hookup with I90 in Syracuse, then go towards MA. You save money on tolls, and the boarder crossing is much smaller, therefor faster.

I was thinking the same thing. Take the red line (subway) to Braintree. Good mall the last time we were there. There's also a Sheraton Tara in case you are having trouble finding a reasonably-priced room during this very busy time.

It's closed right now (the disney store that is)...It was relocated to another spot in the mall...We had to go to Emerald Square in North Attleboro to get a few things. I like emerald square mall better anyway. I'm sure the disney store in NY must be lots of fun!

It's supposed to be a nice weekend..and dry.
