Anyone Flyt Yet?

We are supposed to fly on USAir on Sunday, Sept. 23 to WDW. I have called USAir and they will issue a full refund if we feel it is necessary. I guess before I make that decision I would like to hear from someone who has flown again after the planes started up again.

I can listen and listen to all of their tightened security measures but I would like to know what someon who has experienced thinks.

my sister flew yesterday and she had no problems other than a bit more of a wait at the airport.

My sister flew from Ft. Myers to Orlando Monday without any problems or really much delay she said. Now they are on their way home to London, supposed to arrive on Tues.

We just flew in last night from Orlando. We were told to arrive at the airport at least
2 hours early. It was a good thing we did, because we were randomly selected to have
all of our luggage inspected by hand. (We had 9 suitcases.) This took a little over half
an hour. We had no problems with our carry on luggage. The only thing that concerned
me was that when I went through the metal detector, I was wearing my watch, and
it did not set off the alarm. Also, my dh has a metal pin in his leg which sometimes sets
off the alarm, and this time it did not.

When we arrived at DFW, their were no sky caps to help us with our luggage.
(Remember the 9 suitcases?) We were told to carry our luggage down an
escalator that was not running and take it out to the curb ourselves. Our children are
very young and were not able to carry a large suitcase down the stairs. Finally, some
nice lady with a walkie-talkie found some people who normally do not do this sort
of thing to help us.

Other than having to wait on the airplane for about an hour before we could get to our
gate because of another plane having extra secuity checks so that it could take off,
those were our only problems. Just allow PLENTY of extra time, and be prepared for
a few inconveniences. I was just happy to be on the ground again, so not much else
mattered.

Our best buds were on an Alaska cruise last week and flew back (into O'Hare) Saturday night.
My friend was prepared. Anything questionable at all (nail scissors, etc) she packed in her luggage to be checked. She had no problems.
Her friend, who traveled with her, took no extra precautions and had some items confiscated -- nail clippers, compact mirror, rat tail comb. This was on her carry on luggage only.
It did take quit awhile longer than ususal, but they were aware that would be the case.

Something to keep in mind. She said the food stands/restaurants were located where only passengers were to board. And it took HOURS to get there. Make sure you eat beforehand, and/or carry water and food with you during the checking in period.
She said the check in was very crowded, slow and hot. And no food or drinks were available. The Red Cross did pass out some bottled water. But she said she was starved by the time they boarded. By the time they got to the boarding areas, the food places were closed. And she wasn't too sure they had been open in the first place.
