Just wondering if anybody out there has flown Southwest air with the new system regarding children under four and how it went.

Where did you end up sitting on the plane?

Was there mass confusion?

Were people angered?

Did you get in the "A" goup with a lap child?

From what I recall, no one had much of an issue - You'll need to go online at 24 hours before to get in the A group. Otherwise, families can board between A and B, as long as you don't try to bring every aunt/uncle/cousin with your and your 1 child.
Check over on transportation though - lots of info from people that have BTDT.

We just flew it in mid October with a 5,3, and 3 month old. It really was no problem. We checked in 24 hours before on the way there and got A seating and got good seats close to the front of the plane. On the way back we forgot, so by the time we checked in we got C boarding, but we boarded after the A group and still got pretty good seats, closer to the wing this time, but not too far back. I didn't see anyone angry. They made it clear that we could board after the A group and if anyone was upset, I didn't notice!

I flew last week, no issues.

If you go online and get an A boarding pass your family boards with the A Group. Otherwise family boarding for families with a child 4 and under is between the a and b group. At most 60 people will have boarded prior and the aircrfaft seats 137 - you will find seats together.

You can still check in online with a lap child so your chances are as good as always. You then have to get a BVD (Boarding Verification Document) for the baby at the airport before you clear security, that hasn't changed. SWA Requres a birth certificate for all lap babies so remember to bring that wiht you.

The big difference is they are now using the number on your BP along with the letter. The gates are marked very well with 1-30 on one side and 31-60 on the other. No need to line up early anymore :) If you have BP A 37 you go to the area designated 36-40 and board in order.

Looking forward to flying SWA again in December.
