Anyone fly skybus?

That's the problem I've run into. Unless you are up very early every day and see it when it's first released, you're not going to get the $10 fares. And as far as I know, they don't give any notice they're going to be released.

They just released their schedule through the end of July within the past 10 days, so unless they add a new city, I wouldn’t expect any new dates anytime soon.

I was lucky to get $10 seats twice. :cool1: Once to San Diego and then to Ft. Lauderdale, but my March Spring break trip to FLL, we’re paying over $200 RT per person on Skybus. Still a huge savings over what the legacy carriers were wanting at the time - $450+. For my March trip, for weeks, I’d been getting up every morning and checking Skybus’s website around 5:45 a.m. as that had been their pattern of releasing seats at 6:00. The time they released seats that included my March date, the schedule was released at 3:00a.m. and needless to say, all the really cheap seats were gone. Also, the last two times they’ve released seats to new cities, they were released in the afternoon. You really need to be at the right place at the right time to get the $10 seats; especially to popular destinations.

We didn't feel pressured to buy food or merchandise though they did make frequent trips up and down the isle. The flight attendants also made an announcement about not eating food you may have brought on via a carryon.

We will have food for DH and DS who are both diabetic. I'm nervous about having to explain this.

I have a friend who flew to Mississippi and he loved it. Said the seats were a bit tight but well worth the total of $35 R/T.

Thanks for the description! And the info. I hate making a big deal about stuff. And we probably will buy sodas. But those two will eat what they need to when they need to.

For those of you who have flown Skybus before, are they really strict with their carry-on sizes? I was able to get the $10 seats for two different trips this summer. We are going to my daughter's dance competitions and will have her dress with us. Although the bag is flat, it is bigger than their "allowable" dimensions. It does fit in the overhead bins though.

I'm trying to figure out if they will allow it or not. Checking the dress is not an option.

They are pretty strict with the dimensions. When you get there, there's a stand that has the size mapped out. If it can be folded up to fit, then fine. Otherwise I'm sure they'll say something to you since it's their policy for all carryons to fit to specs.

Good luck!!

Those of you wanting to fly down to FL on Skybus, keep an eye out because they might be adding more flights. I'm in Lee County, just a few minutes from the Charlotte County airport in Punta Gorda, which is one of the Skybus airports here in FL. On our local news last night they said how popular Skybus has become since they started flying into Punta Gorda just a few months ago. They said the airport is at 1/3 capacity and they will probably be adding more flights and more destinations from Punta Gorda very soon. :thumbsup2

hmmm...Anyone have any ideas on getting to port canaveral from that airport? May need to go on a cruise.

You can do a one-way rental...I believe there are at least two rental car agencies that service Port Canaveral and St Augustine airport.

Nope, didn't feel pressured to buy drinks and things. They talked about on the "intercom" but they didn't ask you individually. But, again, like I said I slept most of the 4 hour flights! :lmao:

I compare it to going anywhere pretty much, there is always something to buy! :confused3

It's about 1-1/2 hours away. You could rent a car (two one-ways). Avis has free shuttle service to/from the port from their location.
