Anyone fly skybus?

I'm thinking of flying on Skybus for our trip to Disney in June. I haven't been able to find very good prices on airfare flying directly in to Orlando so we had actually been planning to drive. Today though I was checking out skybus again and noticed that St. Augustine airport is only two hours from orlando. Now I'm thinking we could take advantage of the cheap fares (looks like about $180 round trip) and rent a car to drive to Disney from there. It makes me a little nervous though because St Augustine looks like a tiny airport. Should that make me nervous? I'm looking for experiences from anyone that has flown either skybus or in/out of St Augustine airport.
TIA:)

I am interested to hear some info about SkyBus as well...so I am subscribing!! =)

I haven't flown with Skybus, but they just started service in our area. They don't go to major airports, they keep their costs down by flying into smaller airports. The service they just started near me is actually the first commercial airline to fly out of this airport! :) Actually, the Charlotte County airport in Punta Gorda is about 2 hrs from Orlando as well - check out the prices to fly into Punta Gorda as well as St. Augustine. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to add that St. Augustine is a really nice place to visit, if you fly in to there take some time to check it out. It's the oldest city in America! http://www.staugustinelinks.com/st-augustine-history.asp

My family and I just flew to st. Augustine via skybus this past september. It is a very tiny airport, but very easy to navigate. As soon as you walk in the door there is 3 car rental desks. We flew into St. Augustine, got our car from enterprise and drove to Disney (only took about 1 hour and 45 minutes (that with a 8 year old and a 3 year old that gets car sick). We ended up driving back to St. Augustine a day before our flight and we are so glad we did. There are some awesome things to see there. I recommend checking out there ripleys believe it or not museum. My husband and I and my 8 year old son LOVED IT. My daughter liked it but didn't quite understand some things.
I'm flying to NYC via skybus again in April.

We flew Skybus back in Sept to Greensboro, NC. Everything was great and the price was wonderful.

Any ideas on when they will open up June and July dates?

My parents flew Skybus (not to Florida) and loved it.

I check DAILY their website for new cities and fares...you absolutely have to do it daily or you'll miss out on deals.

One word of caution: many small airports (like the one in Chicopee MA) are not open 24/7 (as in the facilities not the landing strip!).

I've flow skybus several times and am getting ready to do so again this Saturday. I love flying with them.

Since we're close to Columbus I fly directly from there. And we're always able to get the $10 tickets.... so round trip including fees was $38 per person. :cool1:

I highly recommend them!! :goodvibes

Just flew Skybus from Columbus to Burbank, CA! We did have the $10 tix!!!:cool1: Ok, the seats weren't as comfy as some planes I have been on and the rows seem to be tight, but we slept (DH & I) most of our flights to and from. Both flights were 1/2 full so we had a seat between us to spread out more. Ya, we did buy a Pepsi ($2), and a Snickers ($2). But who cares!! The whole flight crew were so nice and attentive, yet if you were sleeping they left you alone! I have been on other planes where they have woke me up to ask if I wanted the free peanuts!

The planes did seem quieter than some planes (engine noise, etc). Oh and there were only 2 kids on each of our flights. They were actually very quiet people on the flights as most were sleeping like us!

The deaded "lavatory". I did have to "go", I hate going on planes, but it was the nicest "lavatory" I have been in and it didn't smell like most!

I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!

Thank you for the info! We got the $10 tickets for the fam ($208 total!)to fly to Burbank in April. I'm worried that I didn't pay for the pre boarding.

I read one review that said the sales were 'high pressure' on drinks, snacks, etc. Did you feel that way?

We're flying SkyBus in March, and I can't wait!

I'm also a little nervous about not having paid extra for pre-boarding. It didn't occur to me when I was making the reservations that this means my family might not be able to find four seats together; however, our flight will be short, and my children are not babies.

We're planning to arrive plenty early so that (hopefully) we can be among the first to board and won't have problems.

We flew skybus to Ft. Lauderdale and it was awesome, not a single problem. We didn't do the pre-boarding and we didn't have a single problem getting seats together. The flight was smooth and we actually got in earlier than expected.

hmmm...Anyone have any ideas on getting to port canaveral from that airport? May need to go on a cruise.

I flew Skybus from Portsmouth to St Augustine two weeks ago and it was great. Im going again in May and most likely in September. I would highly recommend the $10 for preboarding.***If you print your boarding passes at home you are asked again if you would like to pay for the preboarding.*** So its not to late. There was no high pressure selling of snacks and drinks either.

I just flew Skybus from Columbus to Burbank. I loved it. We had the $10 and it was so worth it!! We even bought food on the plane. It was alittle pricey, but the tickets were so cheap it didn't matter. I highly recommend it!!

Will they let you bring outside snacks on or do they search your bags?

They don't search your bags. The flight attendants get paid commision on what they sell so they can take "outside" food if you do take it on. I didn't bother, I just bought stuff on the plane.

Does anyone know when they tend to post new dates? DH and I want to take another trip to FL, and we are pretty flexible with dates. I would love to get a $10 ticket! We are flying out of Portsmouth, if that helps.

Sign up for their email, and get on it as soon as you see they're out. I saw it at 5:30, and by 6:00 am, I had to switch dates twice, due to the time it took me to type out the info for 5 people.
