Just debating about a New Years trip in a couple of years time!!:lmao:

Has anyone ever flow on Boxing day? Were you able to enjoy Christmas Day before you went? Did it still feel Christmassy when you arrived?

Plus how were the parks?

We were thinking of 5 nights until NYE at a Universal hotel for FOTL, then moving to BLT for NYE and to watch fireworks from the hotel room, then after a few days moving to AKV for a more relaxed pace!!:thumbsup2

Any thoughts?:thumbsup2

Been 5 times either flying boxing day or Xmas day, I have to work Xmas eve til 4pm so can't go before that.

Going Boxing day yes Xmas day is as usual just don't buy as much food, you only need to eat the main day then you rare off so cut right back.
Very Xmassy over there, apart from no Xmas parties at MK everything else continues until NY(I think they start taking things down the 1st weekend in the NY)

Its an amazing time to be there, love it.

Now the bad part, the parks are packed solid from Xmas right thru NY, its the busiest week of the year, often closing parks at some point of the day full to capacity. Only way to do anything is get there for opening and use fast passes, Photos below show line at Soarin 4 hr 40mins, it peaked at about 6 hours in the afternoon.
If you are driving anywhere a usual 10 min journey takes 30-40 mins, car rental places run out of cars.
The place is manic at Xmas but its Magical.

Yes but a long time ago - 2003.

We were child free then so Christmas wasn't as big a deal.

I just went to my mums for dinner then Florida the next day.

We only did universal/I of A. Parks were very busy - very festive though. We did Universal on NYE and had a lovely night then sat in the car park for a few hours trying to get out.

I did miss our sales though - yes they had offers on but not the sales buzz (they do black friday in november instead)

Another thing to watch is where you fly via if indirect. We volunteered to be bumped off our Chicago connection (for compensation $$$) but next day was touch and go if we could fly due to snow.

We went on Boxing Day last year. It did feel a bit strange geting up to go to the airport the day after Christmas Day, but we soon got over that.

We went to Magic Kingdom on 27th December and the morning was one of the quietest times i've ever seen that park. We got loads done.

It did get busier as the week went on and NYE was packed.

thanks everyone!!:thumbsup2

The more I think about it, the more excited I get!!!:yay: We went to Orlando last Dec, but flew on Dec 11th and left WDW on 23rd Dec for a Disney cruise over the holiday period itself and then went back to Universal from New Years Day until 6th Jan- so totally avoided Orlando over the busiest week - but even with the crowds I do really fancy it - especially watching Holiday Wishes from BLT on NYE, that really appeals!!:cloud9:

Just hope the weather isn't so bizarre if we do go at that time of year again!!:lmao:

we flew BA on xmas day once - i had the brilliant idea that there would be no one on board that day....and no kids....wrong....
the plane was packed to the rafters with families.....silly me...

Xmas day is crazy for airports, the one and only time we have flown form Gatwick was Xmas day, 2 hours to check in for Virgin, it was 1 check in line for all flights and snaked around the whole building to the door, never known check in so bad.

i thought everyone would be home with family, not in the airplane!!

A lot of us who work in retail can't fly til Xmas day, the week before is the busiest week of the year. Many people I know with businesses go away for Xmas into the new year.
Rather be on a plane somewhere warm than stuck here in the cold, I am not a Xmas fan:rotfl2:
