Anyone Fly Air Tran from Dayton to Orlando?

Hi! I was wondering who has flown Air Tran out of Dayton to Orlando. We've never flown this airline before and are wondering what they are like. Do they offer beverage service? Are you able to preboard with your kids? Also, how easy is the airport to get into, park, and find your way around? Finally, we got a special web fare that will not allow us to reserve our seats until we check in. Will this mean that we can be bumped as we have no reserved seats? (We are always at the airport 2 hours early). Will they ensure that I am able to sit with my 4 yr. old - surely they wouldn't split us up?!?
Thanks so much!

I haven't flown to Orlando, on Airtran, but have flown Airtran, out of Dayton to other places. They do allow pre-boarding. They will not sit your 4 Y.0. by themself, however I have been stuck with both my kids, with my hubby, a few rows up, and vice versa. That was fun---NOT.

Just get to the airport early as planned, and you should be fine.

Dayton airport is very easy to find, and smaller. You can get around quickly.

Have fun!:D

Hello fellow Ohioan!

My family lives in Wilmington which is about 45 minutes southeast of Dayton. We are taking our first flight with Airtran to Orlando on August 30th and returning September 2nd. This is our first time flying out of Dayton and with this airline. We usually fly out of Columbus.

Disney here we come.

Small World--- I grew up in Lynchburg, but my entire family works in Wilmington (except my hubby and me). My mom works for the paper.

Anyway - just saying hello:D

It is a small world. How about that. My hubby works at PC Connection as a Senior Computer Technician. I've been a SAHM for the past five years.

We have been through Lynchburg many times.

Happy countdown to Disney.

Thanks for the responses!

Babslittleones - Could you please let me know how your flight was? How easy to check in, get seats, etc, and also your Disney vacation! I haven't been to Disney since around 1986, so this is the first time I'm planning on my own for myself, hubby, and son.

Again, thanks for the replies!

We will be flying out at the end of sept. & also have never used Airtran or flown out of Dayton. We usually get our best deal out of Indy but not this time. I am just south of Middletown, Ohio

babslittleones, I would like to know how things go also. Please :p

We have flown Air Tran a few times (not out of Dayton) and always been satisfied. Are you sure about reserving the seats? When we flew last April we also got a web special and we were able to get seat assignments 24 hrs. ahead on the Web site. I went to the section on their web site that says flight check-in and just picked the seats we wanted, then you can print up boarding passes with the seats on them. Of course you still need to check-in at their counter if you have luggage to check in, But it did seem to make the process go quicker.

Hi there, I've flown AirTran quite a few times out of Dayton and have been satisfied with both the service and price. I've haven't flown to Orlando yet, November 13th will be our first time to do that. We are on the non-stop.

Other than the cash register like boarding pass it feels just like any other airline. Yes there is beverage service and of course a little bag of peanuts...

Enjoy your trip!

Steve

Up till now I've been a nervous wreck!!! I was checking airfare for our NOvember trip, found a great web fare from Air Tran, couldn't get a hold of DH, I feel like I had to act right away and purchased the tickets online. THEN, at the confirmation page, it says that I have to get seat assignment at the airport. So I'm thinking, "oh s***, they are going to seperate the 4 of us, (me, dh, dd9, ds5) throughout the plane. DH will have a hissy fit!! AFter reading this thread, I feel much better, will try to get seat assignment on line 24hour before or get to airport early.

These boards are great!!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I feel better knowing that as least one of us will be able to sit with our child. I don't really care if hubby and I are split up as he usually catches up on his continuing education credits for his license, so I'm the one entertaining our son! LOL
Fortunately we have a connection on the way down in Atlanta. We'll be able to visit my cousins and also get something to eat! We have a nonstop on the way home, but need to connect through Atlanta there. That airport is so easy to get around! We needed to get to terminal C from terminal A in about 20 minutes the last time we went through there, and we made it in about 10 even though we walked on the people movers!
Those of you leaving soon, let me know how easy the Dayton airport is to get around.
Enjoy your vacations, everyone!
