For those who have flown with Virgin from Gatwick to MCO lately, just wondering how you've found the entertainment?

Looking on the Virgin website its not very clear as to what you get, as it just states some flights offer it :confused3

Also, do they do a goodie type bag for the kids like some airlines do?

Thanks in advance :)

I flew last year, and I think it varies form plane to plane. I was on an older plane, which had films, although they were in the older format, which meant all the films started at the same time, and I had to wait for them all to finish before the next cycle began. A bit of a pain because by the time I'd flicked through the beginning of each film to work out what it was and if I wanted to watch it, I'd missed about 20 mins of the start.

HOWEVER, my friend flew on a different plane the day afterwards, and had the newer version, which I believe had a menu to select films and TV shows from when she wanted to watch them. Hope you get that version :)

As far is I know none of the 747's on the MCO have AVOID so all the films are on a cycle. The new A330's have AVOID so you can choose when to stary/stop or pause the films.

:confused3 Might be me, but this makes no sense to me. Can anyone translate for techno ignorant people?

Sorry, on flights on vrigin flying to orlando international airport, if its a boeing 747 (the older planes) none of them have avod (audio and video on demand) so each film plays from start to finish and when all the films are finished they play them over again, you can choose the film you watch but cant decide when it starts and you cant pause it etc. The new Airbus A330's have the new system which allows you to start, stop, pause and rewind films when you like.

It is the older ones we're flying on. Was wondering more about games, as that's more likely to keep my 5yr old nephew entertained...hopefully!

Is that hit and miss, or again more likely to be on the swanky new planes?

Copied from the V Flyer website (the planes on the MCO route more often are in bold, my alteration)

Super Nova
During the summer of 2001 Virgin took delivery of five 747-400 aircraft (the cancelled Alitalia order), these were fitted with an Inflight Entertainment system new to Virgin Atlantic supplied by Thales. The new product, called 'Nova' has 8 channels of seat back entertainment consisting of: •Movie channels
•2 kids channels (featuring a combination of movies and tv programming)
•1 TV channel which works on a cycle basis showing a selection of current TV programming
•14 audio channels ranging from soul to Classical music
•Moving Skymap display which plots the aircraft's flight path
•Bulkhead Telephone
The Nova system is on a selection of LGW/MAN 747-400. As these aircraft had Suite fit-outs, they got "Super Nova" (an enhanced version of Nova, but it still ain't V:Port).

Thanks for the info 15isto2. So for my nephew I kinda need to hope for an older plane! He'll be taking ds and things, just have to make sure batteries fully charged just in case!

Thanks.

Older planes (flew last month) have no games just 12 looping film/tv channels.

What is your date and flight number?

You are on one of the older aircraft not the new A330's

Sorry to hijack the thread but..
I've read on other threads aboutthe PE seats on LGW flights being rearranged ?
Our flight numbers are Outward VS0015 Return VS0016
Any help with our type of plane or what's happening with the seating plans. We were in main cabin outward and bubble return. That has probably all changed..
