Anyone flown thomas cook.

Flew twice with them. First time pretty basic, not much leg room & hard to see small televisions just up the centre but price was good. Second time horrendous & would not fly with them for free. No one likes delays but we were treated badly & spent aound 16 hours on board a plane too small for the journey & passengers, with not enough toilets, food & info & no air conditioning or tv. On the return journey we had a 12 hour delay which was luxury compared to the outbound one. Also, still not had a reply to my second complaint letter. As I said the first time was fine & i hope yours is but ours almost put us off long haul for good. We have booked with Delta this year so it did'nt put us off for too long.

Interested in this thread. Will be flying from Belfast too - heading to WDW for first family trip in August 2010. Planning well in advance!

I will probably go with VA from Gatwick, but agree that I hate the thought of the sitting about in Gatwick waiting for FlyBE connection home afterwards. When speaking to someone in Virgin Holidays I was wondering if it was possible to get the VA flight home that arrived in Gatwick at 7am and have the FlyBE connecting flight that leaves Gatwick for Belfast at 9am. They said no. What does anyone else think? Too tight a connection time? If it worked out, would be far better than waiting til lunchtime for the next Belfast flight.

We done this last year, Virgin flight was great, as for connection times.
We left Orlando at 18:45 I think , landed in Gatwick about 7ish, the flew to Belfast at 8:30 and were back in Sydenham for around 10. Can`t remeber the exact times cause I`ve a head like a sieve but there was enough time for us to make our connection.
We booked with that holiday through Thomas Cook in castle court and they booked that connecting flight with no trouble.

I've flown with Thomas Cook 3 Times and always paying extra to be seated in the premium seats at the front of the plane. I don't have any compliants about the service as its always been good. When I travelled in 2003 with my mum, who had special assistance they were very helpful and attentive towards us.

My mum is also a diabetic and has strict eating routinue, which was different to the serving times on the plane. They did'nt bat an eye lid when I asked if she could have her lunch 1 hour earlier than anyone else, they said that would be fine and just tell them when she would be ready for her meal to be served.

I would say the Thomas Cook UK were tops from the UK to Sanford and back.

Thomas cook reps in sanford (the american staff) in 2003 were not up to scratch. I had booked transfers but when I got there the rep said he had me down for a car. I show him my invoice which stated that I had booked the transfer and he refused to acknowledge it, insisted that I paid again for the transfers. I spent the best part on 30 minutes in a heated discussion with him about me paying twice for the same transfers.

In the end he would'nt give way so I had to pay to get me and mum to the hotel, when he went to arrange the transfers at the desk, there was no bus left to take us for the rest of the day. So I ended up paying $110 for him to get us a taxi(if you can call it that, i don't think it even passed its M.O.T). Taxi driver charged me for every toll we went through as an extra. I then spent 8 days chasing the american reps for a refund of my money, once I call thomas cook in the U.K to confirmed my transfer details with them.

Once back in the U.K I wrote a compliant letter to Thomas Cook head office about the transfer problem, and they sent me out a cheque for £100 as a goodwill gesture for the problems we had.

Flew with them to Calgary last year on a prefit My Travel a330/200 aircraft and back from Vancouver on a newly refitted TC a330/200. Have to say i prefer the old cabin of the My Travel to the new seats on the Thomas Cook, they were sooo uncomfortable and thin. I am 6ft 1 in but had exit seats and was still uncomfy for many many hours. Entertainement and food were so so nothing to write home about.

We flew with Thomas Cook a couple of weeks ago from Glasgow to Sanford, no issues at all. Their planes have slightly more legroom than some of the other carriers - think the seat pitch is 33" but don't quote me on that. Only thing I hate is the really rubbish luggage allowance which was REALLY hard since we had a toddler with no seat and therefore no luggage allowance - we got away with it on the way out but were charged $154 excess on the way back - oops! Ooh and our flight was delayed 3 1/2 hours on the way back but the actual flight was good. This was the second time we have flown to Sanford with Thomas Cook and we've also flown to Cuba with them too. Their shorter flights aren't so good but have found longhaul with them fine. We often use them as my friend works for Thomas Cook and that's usually who she can get us the best deals with.

Ok I`m back and it was just too depressing contemplating coming on to the Dis until now

So I thought I`d give you all a wee mini review of what I thought of Thomas cook airlines.

First things first leaving Belfasy , we took off on time and arrived slightly early. Flight was comfortable, thought the seats were excellent loads of room.Having said that I`ve got wee short legs so leg room is never an issue for me. In flight entertainment was a bit lacklustre and no opportunity to upgrade to the premium channels, I think it was a slightly older plane on the way out.
Food was alright, you`re not going to get gourmet food on a plane and this was at least edible, the only reason any of us eat it is to kill some time anyway so it did its job.

Cabin crew were excellent, absolutely no complaints on that score.

On the return journey, again left bang on time and arrived about 1 hour early
Better in flight entertainment, this time we could upgrade to the premium channels, which I did and watched the new Star Trek movie.

Food again was fine, though my wee one got a kiddies meal, and it was pasta and some sort of tomato sauce. Not really a kids meal in my view but I suppose it was healthier than a normal kids meal.
Got a wee bit of entertainment out of the extra legroom seats too, sorry if you are on here but that was an over reaction.( some of you may or may not know what I`m talking about here)

So all in all i would heartily recommend Thomas Cook, I have no problems in flying with them again anytime.

Apparently they weren't getting enough custom. So they've withdrawn flights from next year.

After talking to the girls in the shop it seems they are flying but only till July 10th. And the prices are bloody awful. It is a pity though cause I hated going to gatwick .
