Anyone find this McDonald's commercial offensive?

I'll be glad when we can all stop worrying so much about what's PC. If that ever happens that is.

No doubt. I feel guilty when I order "white bread" at Subway.

I have not seen that particular commercial, however, I do find alot of ads these days to be in very poor taste.

Commercial didn't bother me at all as a woman. I can certainly imagine two men doing it and I'll bet no one would be offended in the least but because one of them is a black woman, we need to be offended? Nope. Not offneded. It was funny!

As a black woman and a card carrying Screen Actors Guild actress, I can say from experience that views like the OP had are what make it difficult for minority actresses to get cast in roles other than those that are written for "black females". If is extremely difficult for roles to be cast "color-blind" or "gender-blind" A black female should be able to act in that part as an "actor that is playing dirty with a co-worker to get a promotion". It didn't need to be a black woman, or a woman, or a man, or an Asian person. Just two people who work together and are vying for the same position. Sometimes I think that a person's particular racial views cloud situations and things appear differently than they actually are. I would have no problem being cast in that national McDonald's commercial.

Really? Suppose the positions were reversed and you were the one who had eaten the buffet and had a derogatory remark written on your head; is it still funny?

I agree with Bella; that is, there is not a chance that commercial would've been made with the actors reversed.

I must say I find the McDonald's salad commercial where the black woman writes "weasel" on the white man's head as he sleeps very offensive. She then proceeds to tell us that she and the "weasel" are up for the same job. Later in the commercial, you see her sitting with the boss and the competition the man comes in and is made to look like a fool. I find this offensive on many levels. First, what would happen if the tables were turned. What if the man wrote on the woman's head? Tell me there would not be a huge hue and cry. Women's groups would flip not to mention the NAACP.
Second, it implies that the only way the black woman can get the job from the white man is to make him look like a fool. Can she not get the job on her ability? I mean jeeze she has a leg up on the poor guy just by being a minority in two categories.

As the mother of two middle class white males I find it offensive. As a woman (albeit not black) I find it offensive. I think it is demeaning all around. Anyone else's teeth set on edge when they watch it?

I have seen that commercial. I have to agree with you 100% on this. You have made some very good points. :D

I never thought much of it when I saw the commercial. I see your point now that I think about it.

I haven't seen this one yet, and it does sound offensive! I

I loved that anti-Mcdonalds movie, that was out awhile ago. :D

Yup! Because I see two actors, not a black woman and a white man. Maybe that's the problem - people judging by the color of someone's skin. The basis of the commercial was a co-worker pulling a prank to get advanced. If it were reversed, I still wouldn't have a problem because it would still be a co-worker pulling a prank to get advanced. I still see two actors.

I am glad that you see it that way (and I am sure many to most see it that way)...but if the roles were reversed Jesse Jackson and his ilk would have been all over it and it would have never seen more than one or two plays on TV and the news media would have covered it hook line and sinker. I think that is where the OP is somewhat upset about. If it is a white male put down no one cares or seems to care but if the roles were reversed someone somewhere would be raising a ruckus (which is their right) but as has happened too many times in the past the commercial would have been forced to be pulled. I personally have no problem with the commercial but can see where the OP is coming from.
