Anyone felt reserving a SuperShuttle caused a delay?

I was going to reserve a couple of spots on a Supershuttle from SNA to our hotel to take advantage of a discount code, but held off after a conversation with a woman at work. She indcated that she had stopped reserving the SuperShuttle after twice having to wait for her "reserved" van. She indicated that she could have gotten right on a shuttle if she had not had a reservation. Both times she had problems, she had flown into Long Beach not SNA. Its been a while since we used a shuttle as have rented a car for the last few trips, but I recall fairly efficient service using SuperShuttle. Has anyone else reserved a shuttle and regretted it? Could it be a problem with LGB airport only?

We were told by my our travel agent that they are no longer using super shuttle...but karmel shuttle service now...I hope that helps some...Good Luck!

We just got back today - used SuperShuttle from SNA to Candy Cane Inn and vice versa. We made reservations online and had no problems. Very easy (we also used a promo code,) and they were very prompt. This was our 2nd time using them, and I plan to do it again next time. :)

I've never had a problem. I use SS about 4 times/year for about 20 total trips so far. I like to reserve ahead because I have it all paid for, including tip, and I can use a coupon code to make it $7 each way. I've had to wait about 10 min but I don't find that a big deal. However, I go from SNA to DLR and back, so not sure about LGB.

We used Super Shuttle in April from SNA to Hyatt Regency and then back again. We made our reservation online to take advantage of the code as well. We were able to walk out of the airport, wait about a minute, and then hop in a van. The Super Shuttle driver was pacing around a bit, like he was waiting for something. Meanwhile, 3 or 4 other Super Shuttle vans drove past us and were on their way. Not sure what the hold up was, our van was already full. We were eventually on our way. When it was time to go back to SNA, my husband and I both received recorded messages on our cell phones, letting us know when they'd be picking us up. (Of course we already knew, but it was still nice to get a reminder.) They were prompt in picking us up at the Hyatt at 3:55pm. By 4:30pm we had been dropped off at SNA, through security, and waiting at our gate. Very quick and very easy. It was convenient to have the reservation taken care of online, including the tip. We will use their service again. (This is quite a paragraph...probably more than you wanted to know. :))

We used it this past summer and it went very smooth. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Super Shuttle stranded us at the airport when our late evening flight was delayed getting in. I had even called ahead to let them know of the delay. After enough time on hold with their customer service line to finish killing the cell phone battery, we ended up just hopping in another company's shuttle that happened to be there. Won't be using them again any time soon.

we use super shuttle every time we go to DL which is at least once some times twice a year and have had no problems. We have found if we add the gratuity at the beginning when we reserve, their service is great!

Thanks everyone for the input. It looks like it is mostly positive feedback. I would think that there might be fewer issues at SNA as more people fly in there and it is likely to have more resources.

We didn't have to wait for the shuttle, but it took us over 2 hours to get to DL from SNA because they put us on a bus of OC homeowners that got dropped off before us. I wished I had spent the money on the Disney bus service, and will probably do so after that experience.

YIKES!:scared1: I would be livid if this happened to me.

I almost got stranded at my hotel by them on Sunday. I ordered a Honda Odyssey to take me directly from the airport to hotel and back. While going out was not a problem, going back was. They sent a shuttle instead of the Honda that I ordered, and I had to show my confirmations, and basically got into a 5 mins argument with the guy, demanding that I get what I paid for, which was the Honda Odyssey, and refused to let him leave until the Honda Showed up. After 5 mins the Honda Odyssey Mysteriously reappeared and drove me to the airport without any further problems. Make sure you have your confrimations printed out and handy, and don't let them try to do the bait and switch they tried to pull on me on Sunday.

Ack! Thanks for posting this. Can I ask what day of the week and time of day it was? We arrive at SNA around 9pm-ish this Friday. I'm wondering if that would be a busy time for locals and the Disney shuttle would be better. I was thinking Super Shuttle because
1. a little bit cheaper for a family of 4
2. afraid Disney Shuttle would take a long time to go to Fairfield Inn since first priority is Disney property hotels

Hadn't thought about the fact that Super Shuttle is not just for hotels! (where's the "smacking self upside the head" smiley?)

Last time we used Super Shuttle, they never showed up for us at the DLH and we had to take a cab to SNA. Never again....

Joybelles, I would just take a taxi if there are 4 of you. You don't need a reservation and will get right in and off you go with no other stops. It costs around $40-45 each way, so it's not a whole lot more than SS for 4.

Edited to add: we never had any trouble with timing, whether staying onsite or not. In fact, the Disney properties are often the last ones on the SS route. I have never (knock, knock since I'm going on SS next week!) had any problem whatsoever with detours or no-shows but I've read about it happening on occasion. I think the overall record for SS is really good, but it only takes one bad experience to sour you on something! So far, I've not had that happen.

BTW, I have posted this often in the past but will re-post anyway: code UYR59 will get you $3 off each way on SS. If you make a separate reservation for each person, you can save quite a bit. If you make one reservation for all, then you will only get $3 off per party each way. Just a nice little trick to know about. I have ressies for 3 of us next week for $42 RT plus tip for all, so it's a nice savings. Regular price would be $60 plus tip.

There's good and bad with SS and with the Disneyland Resort Express bus. Upsides and downsides.

The situation with the Odyssey...I had the opposite situation happen, and from dealing wtih my situation I would bet a million dollars that the SS people had a shuttle there for someone else, and it got confused. The fact that the Odyssey was there 5 minutes later, when the SS shuttle was there 10 minute early, just tells me that it wasn't a bait and switch, but just confusion. In my situation the driver wasn't letting me on, stating that it was NOT my shuttle, and it turned out it was because she thought I was with a family (up the stairs near the checkin building at HoJo) and she was looking for a solo person. The confirmation email printout was helpful then, too, because she could look up the number, and not the mystifyingly mangled NAME that they had (mystifying b/c I made the reservation online, and one wouldn't think there would be any changes, any hands my name would go through to mix it up).

asianway, how early were you there? I once got to the hotel (after playing in the parks) an hour before pickup, and they got there 30 minutes ahead of time. Thank goodness I was there so early!

Joybelles, it's not that the disney hotels are a priority, they just use the DLH as a place for people to pay, and a point where other buses are dispatched from. Plenty of people have reported weird situations of getting to the Grand last, etc etc. The bus is run by Grayline, not Disney...they are refering to the entirety of Disneyland Resort, not THE resorts at Disneyland, IMO.

I've done reservations coming in twice that I remember on SS...both times I pre-reserved. Both times I was just about the only one on the shuttle. First time was at Ontario airport (ugh), and the guy drove around the airport two full times hoping to get another passenger, but ultimately just took me and DS with no one else. Second time was from SNA, I got on the shuttle first then we waited a bit as the guy hoped to get another passenger. He did, waited just a bit longer, then took us. I don't really mind...they are somewhere in between sole owners of their vans vs employees, and it's better for them to take multiple people all at once. If I'm paying the money for a *limo*, I expect them to be prompt and immediate; but if I'm paying a nice low rate, I can deal with them wanting someone else to share the gas, because I'm certainly not paying the upkeep on the shuttle AND the gas AND for his time, even with 3 of us in the van!
