Anyone famous on your cruise?

We were on the cruise getting off as Jim Belushi and the cast of According to Jim were getting on. The CMs were very excited and the passengers were all sent releases to sign saying they may be taped and be a part of the tv show. It looked like a lot of fun from what we saw on the show.

I'd think it would be hard to be a celebrity on a cruise ship... Can you imagine going on a cruise to try and relax and take a break, only to spend the entire time being approached by complete strangers wanting to talk to you? I guess they get used to it, but not a life I would want to lead.

we cruised in 2003 and the girl who was playing belle in beauty and the beast on broadway was there. she had a question answer session and she sang the added song too. we sailed just a month ago! on the magic and had tim robbins who plays pumba in the lion king on broadway! he also had question andswer session then another one to sing hakunamatta!

You probably did see Tom McAlpin, President of DCL, on your cruise without realising who he is. He is such a nice, unassuming guy. He was on the first Puerto Rico cruise last year - friend and I were in the lift with him - no idea who he was - he had on a Golden Mickey T shirt so we assumed he was one of the actors so we asked which part he had played the night before!! He thought this was hilarious and just said he worked for the cruiseline - it wasn't until we spoke to somebody else we realised who he was!

Tonya Harding was on the Wonder several weeks ago - she sailed 2 Sundays ago in fact and we were asked to make a basket for her by her travel agent - this was a first for me, but I am sure many celebrities do take the time to get away for a little bit of wonderful and magical times.
Blessings always

On the Magic in March 2004 we had Lynn Swan on our ship. We went on a Eco hike on St. John's island with him and his family and friends. We didn't know who he was at the time. My husband reached up and pulled down on a big WET branch to shake cold water on our grandaughter as a joke. He also got Lynn Swan too. He was nice about it. After we got back to the ship we found out my hubby had dumped cold water on Mr. Swan! Whoooppssss!!!!
We ran into him on board the ship and appologised to him. He posed for pictures with our grandaughter too. He was great to talk with, very friendly.

Was on the June 25th Magic and saw Ricki Lake. She sang a song on karoke night...pretty cool. Saw her again playing Bingo one day too.

I agree with Debtman....imagine people hounding you constantly for autographs and pix while you're trying to have a quiet relaxing time...the "celebrities" need time to chill out too....

We cruised with Paige Davis(then on TLC's Trading Spaces) and her husband, Patrick Page(then portraying Scar in The Lion King on Broadway) two cruises ago. A lot of people said she was standoffish, and unapproachable....she and Patrick could not have been any nicer to us...she actually approached me....as I had been reluctantly pulled up on the stage to perform with Freddy Fusion and his LIVE duck Bill....and she told me what a great job I did and how funny I was. We saw them all over the ship...they always spoke, waved and came over the last night of the cruise in Palo and sat and talked with us for a while.

She and Patrick both did sets in the theatre and had a pix and auto signing and DD still has their pix in her room.

Just treat them like regular people and they'll treat you the same.....

Paige Davis and her husband , from Trading Spaces was on our 7 day Eastern cruise in December 2003. She was really friendly and we saw her all over the ship and on Castaway Cay. She also had a special show where she talked all about Trading Spaces and her career. She was promoting a book, so she did a book signing and pictures. It was kinda cool because she seemed so nice. :earsgirl:

Well, we'll be on the 10/2 cruise so I know there will be at least one 'celebrity' on that one.

Hopefully you didn't include any hub caps and empty wine bottles - she's been known to throw those at people around here :rotfl2: Oh yea, a bat would have been a bad idea too ;) ;)

I was just at a BBQ at the neighbors house this weekend and one of their friends mentioned how he did not like to cruise at all.....I said I loved to cruise and we were all talking about cruising in general........without me ever mentioning DCL....he says to me....I am friends with the president of DCL's wife....and she said Tom would make sure I had a good time if I decided to cruise but I turned them down....

I just sat there with my mouth hanging open!!! I then went on to tell him how many times I have sailed DCL (13) with #14 on next week's repo!!!

see...you just never know who you'd run into...it is a small world, after all!! :flower:

Speaking of Tom McAlpin....

We were driving around in the "boonies" of Orlando a couple of years ago.

We got so totally lost....we had no idea where we were. We kept on driving and finally found this absolutely beautiful neighborhood and turned in. We drove down this street and found a man and his daughter washing their SUV. We pulled up and my DH got out of the car and asked him where we were and how to get back to civilization. Come to find out we were almost behind The Magic Kingdom...go down this road...turn right....MK straight ahead.
DH got back in the car and said " He was really nice...he does something with the cruise line" Of course, I'm screaming.....WHO IS HE..... DH didn't have a clue....I said "why didn't you come and get me". DH said..."Well, I didn't want to be here all day and bother the man....and that's what you'd have done...talked to him the rest of the day". I said "BUT OF COURSE I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT"...lol Come to find out it was Tom McAlpin.....I was crushed I didn't get to talk to him. And was ready to KILL my DH.....

You never know......who you're going to run into
