We're considering Kona Coast Resort for 2004.
We did Mauna Lani last year - had a great time at a great property but the standard hotel room was very small.
Figure we'll try a one bedroom unit at KCR, but apprehensive about having enough things to do.

Is the KCR property on a beach? Any activities on site?

Are you looking at Kona Coast I or Kona Coast II. In any event, we own at Kona Coast II. The resort is beautiful --- right on a golf course BUT NOT on the beach. Several nice pools and a short drive to many beautiful beach areas. The island is beautiful, resort is well kept (last trip was May 2000), outstanding restaurants on the island.

We love Hawaii. We love Kona but we like to squeeze in the Hyatt Regency Kauai or the Kea Lani over on Maui. Beautiful resorts if you have not visited them. Traveled there 3 times in the first five years of our marriage. (1996 - 2000). Now with two little ones, the 11 hour flight is hard to digest. That's why we bought at DVC last year. Looks like we will banking until our 10th Anniversary.

Good luck!

We just got back from the big island and as always had a great time. There is lots to do if you have a rental care, from going to the volcano, to the rain forest and to the ranches and waterfalls on the island. Also, the big island has the best deep sea fishing of the islands. There is something like 7 different climate zones on the island.
We stayed at the Kona Coast resort for our third time. My FIL as a two week timeshare there. This was our worst stay ever till they moved us to a different unit. The first unit, the AC did not work properly(you pay extra for AC), the celling fan in the LR did not work and the blinds in the kitchen were missing. There was no tissue in the holders and the kitchen appliances were very worn.
This really made us appreciate DVC even more!
