I've seen them three times in the past four years and they're still AWESOME!!!!
The keyboard player (who took Dennis DeYoung's) place is Lawrence Gowen.
For a bunch of guys in their 40's and 50's, they can still put on a great show!
When we saw them last summer, our son had just come home from Iraq. A local radio station gave my husband and my son back stage passes. My husband said that when they went backstage, the guys were lined up and pretty much going through their normal routine of greeting a few of the "special" guests. My husband shook Tommy Shaw's hand and introduced our son - saying that he had recently returned home. My husband said that their demeanor immediately changed. They were shaking our son's hand and asking him questions and thanking him. Well, to top it off - 1/2 way through the concert, JY started introducing one of their new songs and said that they wanted to dedicate it to the Marine that they had met before the show. They started looking out into the crowd, and the lighting crew started panning the crowd with the spotlight. Our son eventually stood up to a thunderous applause, and the band members were pointing and shouting "there he is". Needless to say, it was an evening we'll never forget!
Just had to share my "Styx" story. If you get the chance - go and see them!!!!!! They just keep getting better with age!
