Anyone familer with the group STYX?

Oh yeah...I remember these guys...

Remember the "album" with the rainbow colored images around the edges?

It turns out my DS Patrick, knows a friend of Chuck's and has worked for him.....Chuck SIGNED a CD, it turns out to be the "Greatest Hit's" one that is recent! My DS also has a T-shirt from about the 70's and this guy Tim gave him a Blanket--a Harley Davidson one.:p So, my DS knows someone famous from the 70's!::yes::

To age myself, I saw them in Savannah Ga in the 80's. It was their Kilroy Was Here Tour. I don't have their albums, but I do have the Pieces of Eight and Kilroy cd's. Nothing like having the van to myself to listen to the great songs.

Big STYX fan checking in. I saw them twice in their Pieces of Eight concert and then their Grand Illusion concert. Great songs and listening to them brings back wonderful memories of high school and college years!

Oh mama I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law.....

I LOVE STYX!!! My brother took me to see them in '78 which was my very first concert. I had a HUGE crush on Tommy Shaw. I love their music. My favorite will probably always be Babe. I do think Dennis DeYoung has a better voice than Tommy (just Tommy was way better to look at, lol). I have a wonderful Broadway hits CD performed by DeYoung. I think I saw the episode of Rosie someone mentioned when he was in the audience, lol.

I have their albums packed away with my hs collectibles but I picked up a great compilation CD called The Encore Collection and it was apparently recorded live in Chicago. Near as I can tell from the CD it was in '97.

Who is the singer that replaced Dennis DeYoung? I cannot imagine anyone else singing those particular songs. Dennis had a great voice but it also was a very distinct sound.

Anyone see Journey(similar band from same time period) since Steve Perry was replaced? I just couldn't do it. I loved him more than Tommy Shaw and the image of someone else singing Open Arms which was my hs prom song made me crazy. Dh thinks I'm loyal to a fault!

DH and I both remember them! They were good. Still have some of their albums I think!

My niece (age 20) is soooo jealous because I have Styx II in vinyl!! She keeps saying, "Why doesn't my dad have cool albums like that?"

Saw them in Chicago in '75 -- still love their music!

Journey filled two concerts here on July 4th without Steve Perry. I agree with you, I couldn't go either.

As for Styx, "Renegade" rocks. Not a big fan of "Mr. Roboto"
("I am the common man, with parts made in Japan, .... I'm killroy, killroy ...") Thanks for the thread and the memories.

My mom went to HS (in Chicago) with the Panozzo brothers and I went to HS with Dennis DeYoung's son Matthew. They used to have a skybox at the local outdoor ampitheatre - saw Ac/DC and Meatloaf with him.

Saw them by accident when they were still TW4. I am SO old!!! Never really cared for DeYoung's voice though.

Just went by the building here in Miami that my DS Patrick takes care of for Chuck and Tim.;) Yes, I took a Picture of it.:o

I saw them in 1973 or 1974 in the cafeteria of the public high school in my town. I think Lady was already a hit, but they weren't doing the big concert halls yet!

When I was in college I dated the roommate of Dennis DeYoung's cousin.

I saw Styx this summer and they are still really good. I loved listening to them.

Ahhhhhhhhhh rewinding my brain cells to go BACK TO THE DAY!!!

They were one of my favs back then.... here we go with the rehashing of old times yet again. :smooth:

Ohhh, boy, does this bring me back. Still remember an album review I saw in Rolling Stone was back in high school. Can't remember the content very well, but will never forget the headline:

STYX....STYNXS

They were soo good.
Glad to hear they are still playing.
