MetJet offering Non stop flights to Orlando from Green Bay WI starting in May

Is anyone familar with MetJet as depending on cost would be nice not having to drive 3+ hours to Milwaukee to get a nonstop flight.

Looks like a brand new airline with 1 plane, 2 FT employees and 18 PT employees with one route scheduled to start flying on May 25th. I would be a little leary on this one I think.

Thanks
I found a little more info (below) these flights are operated by Suncountry airline
I dont have any experience with that airline either though

MetJet's Boeing 737 flights are charters which are operated by Sun Country Airlines.

Just want to add they fly Fri and Sat evenings out of Green Bay with a return on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Their website advertises 2 free bags per person along with beverage, snack, and complimentary meal on board.

We were looking into them too and found the same information. I believe they are taking reservations thru mid August right now. I am wondering if they will be anything like Allegiant Air and not travel from mid August - end of October.

We like to travel to Disney over the kids b-day in Sept or the last week in October when WI schools are in conference. Last year we paid an arm and a leg to get out of GB over that break.

I like to have my ducks in a row and would be looking at booking flights for Sept/Oct soon but if they don't have any rates/information for these months they will be out of the running for my business. I wonder when they will have these ready for the public.

I would give them a try and see how it goes. Allegiant is fine, a very no frills airline which nickles and dimes you but you can get from Appleton to Sanford without stopping and with kids that is a bonus.

Good Luck - Report back if you give them a try soon.

Technically, not an airline, but a charter operator, which hires a "real" airline to fly aircraft on its behalf.

I agree that one should be leary. I looked at its website, and its is openly violating the new rules for airfare advertising that took effect last month (that is, all taxes/fees now need to be included in the price). Which makes me wonder what other details they've overlooked...

There was a nice article about MetJet a few weeks ago in the GreenBay Press Gazette. Basically said the owner felt GB needed more options to Orlando (Amen to that) as many small airports especially in the U.P. were closing and he felt it was an untapped market. If prices are competitive with what we have, I'm all for it. Maybe the OP could find the article on the website. Sorry can't give more info. We are traveling in April so can't try it.

MetJet is not an airline, they are a charter company. They appear to have an extremely limited schedule, flying only on Saturdays, then in March, Wednesday and Saturday.

Thanks
I was just checking to see if anyone had flown with them and how their experience was. I believe they charter with Frontier

Yes, MetJet is a "Public Charter." A company (in this case, MetJet) charters flights from an actual scheduled or charter airline, and relies on that airline's aircraft, crews, operating certificate, maintenance, and so on.

The company then attempts to sell tickets on the chartered flights. If the ticket sales exceed the cost of chartering (and marketing and management expenses) over time, the company makes an operating profit and stays in business. If not, the company folds, and the operating airline repaints the plane(s) back to their own colors and logo.

Public Charters have not had a good track record lately. You might want to read up on Direct Air, which went out of business earlier this year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Air

MetJet is tiny. It flies from Green Bay to Orlando and Fort Myers. The schedule is very limited. If their business plan is sound (and MetJet stays in business) and the schedule meets your needs, it could be a good option.

Just be sure you know what they do if a flight is cancelled.

I have not flown with MetJet yet, but I will in January! I live in Green Bay and have heard wonderful things about their service. They only fly out on Saturdays now, but that didn't bother me! I hope they stick around because I am really looking forward to a direct flight from Green Bay and not having to drive down to Milwaukee to fly out in the middle of winter!

I really wanted to try this company, but after speaking with the owner directly today I have no doubt this charter airline will not make it past the end of the year. Book at your own risk!

We were thinking of trying this airline. Could you be more specific as to why you would not try them please. I would really appreciate it.

Once again, MetJet is not an airline. Just do a Google search; you'll find a lot of information about them. They have an extremely limited schedule and if you miss your flight or it is cancelled, you may be waiting days for another flight.

Major change, which enitles you to obtain a refund, is a flight change of more then 48 hours or fare increase more than 10%.
