Hi, have you ever worn these, they don`t look very flattering do they actually do any good. Wish they made them in other colours besides black and white.

If you have tried them which ones did you get and what did you think of them. Do you think they are worth buying.

Thanks

Every time!!! DH has had a stroke (after flying to Istanbul..long story!) so we always wear them and take low dose aspirin in the weeks prior to flying. Boots and major chemists do them but I saw some rather cheap ones recently (about £4) but I can't remember where!! I think it might have been either George at Asda or Tescos (helpful, eh!)
Never managed to find flesh or white though so black it has to be (dont try this look with shorts!!)
Very surprisingly light and comfortable!

Thanks Fiona, think I`ll have to give these a go. Better to try everything than nothing and then have a problem, hadn`t thought about the asprin though, thanks.

Seeing as aspirin was mentioned I thought I'd add this.

Buy your vitamins and aspirin in Wal-Mart or similar supermarket. They cost peanuts compared to the UK. As an example, a certain well known brand of multi-vitamin is circa 11p each in the UK. In Wal-Mart they work out at 4p each. Something similar applies to low dose aspirin but I can't remember the figures.

I agree. Also try migraine relief medication. I have had good results with some of the over the counter products from the States. Won't cure a real doozie but can stave it off for a bit. DH swears by their sudafed equivalents too!

Flight socks are great - we always wear them.

I think Boots have started doing flight knee-highs too - which are more for ladies.

I think you need to make sure you put them on before you get on the flight
They are expensive in Boots - they did have 3 for 2 on them a couple of weeks ago, but not sure if it is still on.

Cath:D

Boots still have the 3 for 2, it is running until the middle of July, so not a bad idea really to try them. I always think of buying them and then get to the airport and remember I have forgotten to buy them, so will definitely be buying them from Boots this year before I go.

i didn't wear them last year when we flew on virgin

i was wearing shorts and reef sandals

i did spend a lot of the flight walking up and down the aisle between the toilets though cos i couldn't sit down for long periods due to a bad back

i recall laying on the floor stretching out between the toliets right at the back of the plane (behind the partition) for a while too !

now that was comfortable

:D

For anyone who suffers from swollen ankles/feet on landing, these flight socks are the biz. I've worn them a few times now and have just bought another pair (£5.95 special offer in Tescos;) ) ready for our October trip. I'm sure I read somewhere you shouldn't use them for more than 2 round trips.

You're right, they don't look particularly flattering - when we got on the plane coming back from St Lucia a couple of weeks ago I was wearing red and white striped shorts . . . plus black knee-high flight socks (DH and DD cracked up when I waddled up to the ladies a little later:rolleyes: ;) ) - but the joy of actually being able to get my sandals on at the other end makes it all worthwhile:D

Hi, my other half was in Tesco`s a couple of hours ago and was looking at flight socks £11.99, they were with all the locks, blow up pillows etc (Did you notice if the ones you bought were with this sort of thing or were they on their own? sorry to be a pain, but the price you paid is half of what we saw them for earlier)
I`m going to send her back later!!!!

Thanks Phil

I think that firm support tights also do the same job - but they can get a bit stuffy - especially when you arrive at your destination and its 95 :teeth:

Or, you could always get hold of a pair of white anti-embolism stockings from the hospital.......free with every operation!!!!! LOL

:p :p :p Oh divine!!

Katie's Dad (we've got one of those here - how old is your Katie?) - I got mine last week, but interestingly our little Tesco store near here was charging £5.95 whereas the larger 24hr one was charging £11.99. They are called Flight Socks. Might be worth having a look at the Boots special offer. Also look into Superdrug, they all stock the same ones and you never know if they've got a special offer on. The first pair I bought were on half price special at Superdrugs about this time last year. Good luck - they're worth it, specially if you can get them as a bargain.

Ooh, and I notice on the back of the pack I have that they come in Natural colour (well, probably their version of 'natural'), but I've never seen anything other than Black, black or black in the shops:rolleyes: .

Hi all
If you have an Ethel Austin store near you flight socks are £5.00 but only come in black. I've just bought 2 pairs this week.

M & S sell "Travel Socks" for £5. They are with their regular socks. I don't know if they're as effective as the more expensive ones but the packaging implies that they're suitable for flying. I haven't worn them but the ones in the shop seemed stretchy but firm.

Thanks for all the advice yet again, think we`ll have to do a bit of shopping this weekend!

Annie our Katie is 6 going on 66, and is so excited about her holiday, she`ll most probably want a pair too knowing her. We have a big Tesco, so maybe they don`t run with the same offers.
But we do have a local Ethel Austin across the road from M&S which is round the corner from Superdrug and Boots so I`m sure we will strike lucky somewhere.

Haven't bought flight socks - my feet would be in a teerrrible state if I wore these for 10 hours.

Children don't need them & shouldn't wear them.

I have bought a air travel cushion - not sure of correct name from #####avon catalogue. You half inflate it & push air from 1 side to other with your feet. My kids think its soo funny.

but I'm willing to give it a try
