I am looking for a nice campground near Niagara Falls! I found a KOA but it is $61 a night! I am not a member!

I found a little cheaper, Niagara Falls Campground and Lodging, but would like some suggestions!

Not planning on spending a lot of time there. We are about 5 hours south. Travel one day, see the falls the next, relax the next, come home the next.

Thank you all!

I can't give any info on the KOA. We stayed at the Jellystone/Niagara on the Canadian side last summer. The camp ground was clean and friendly as been my experiences in Canada. (Canadian at heart, I suppose) BUT I wish the location was better. It's off the QEW and is noisy at times. we switched our sites because I did not want to camp right under BIG electric lines. Our new site was fine however!
Just a consideration... We bought some daily tour pkg that included the Maid of the Mist, Journey behind the falls, Walk along the gorge, butterfly conservatory and included free shuttle all day. It was priced pp. Good deal I thought. We enjoyed the day greatly. Beware, however of food prices in the city near the falls. VERY PRICEY, Go somewhere else to save $$$.
Good Luck and Do WHat's Right for You! :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

We stayed at the KOA, but it was about 6 years ago! It was okay, nothing too special, family friendly, quiet, not too far from the falls. We would stay there again.

Hope this helps! :teeth:

We stay hear each year....The grounds are small and cramped but it has two nice pools (one indoor) and the cramped atmosphere is kind of cool. Bathroomas are spotless and nice. On the downside ( or plus depending on who you are) there are two strip clubs and several massage parlors within walking distance. Another perk is a bus that picks you up at the campgrounds and returns you there runs about every 1/2 hour. Have Fun

We camped at a New York state park called Four Mile creek (or something along those lines) It was next to historic Fort Niagra. It was very nice, clean, on the lake. Just beautiful.

we camp every year at the koa on grand island new york its 20 minutes across the queenston bridge its next to fantasy island its clean safe and quiete at night has some shopping near by and places to eat we go once a month from kitchener to camp for the weekend wev been donig it for 20 years

We are planning a trip to
http://www.bissellshideaway.com/

this summer they have tons of stuff including a one acre pool, and their prices are not to wild, for all the stuff there is to do. Have fun!

We also stayed on Grand Island. Its a bit of a drive, but everything is pretty spread out anyway.

I second the vote for Bissel's Hideaway. I camped there lots as a kid (20+) years ago and have many fond memories.

Also, consider Sherkston Shores (www.sherkston.com). The camping rates are a bit steep but they include park ammenities with access to their nice beaches.

This looks really nice but it's on the Canadian side! Believe it or not, I am only 5 hours away and never been over the border. My DH used to drive truck and refuses to take the RV for fear that they will rip it apart.

Also haven't they changed the identification that you need to get into the country?

You just can't go to Niagara Falls without going to the Canadian side! :) There's not much to do on the New York side anymore -- all the fun is in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Crossing is a breeze - tens of thousands do it every day. In the future you may be asked for a passport to cross but this is still up in the air. As of now - and for this summer - American citizens still just need a drivers license.

Give it a try - you won't regret it!

Even if you decide to stay in the US, do go over to the Canadian side for at least a day or two.

Is that $61 American or Canadian? It might be cheaper than you think. We like the KOA (except for the train noise in the back) that's right in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. We had an IRV2.com rally there about 5 years ago, and my daughter camped there two years ago. They had a nice indoor pool, and the site was clean at the time we were there. We joined KOA at their site, because it was the same dollar amount as in the US, except when they converted, it was cheaper in Canadian money. That then gave us a discount.
