Anyone ever book on Hotwire and have a bed request or "upgrade" granted at check-in?

Bed request never denied for a double on a Hotwire reservation...Ted

It's all about what the clerk wants to do. Never hurts to ask.

I suspect that some hotels set aside their least desirable rooms for priceline and hotwire, and I have gotten a few of those. Not that there was anything really "wrong" with those rooms, but they may have been a bit smaller, have a weird floorplan or poor view or be located right by the elevator -- or super far away from the elevator.

On the other hand, if you check in late, and the place isn't full, you may get a great room, and I have gotten some of those as well.

Of course, you could pay a lot of money and be really disappointed getting a bad room.

I would rather go in paying less and be happy with whatever room I got (so long as it was clean and working, of course)

I usually call the hotel before the trip and ask if the room has two beds, usually they tell me yes with a couple times them telling me it's one bed.I ask for a room with two beds and have never had a problem getting switched to a two bed room. One time I forgot to call the hotel and when I went to check in it was a one bed room,I asked for a two bed room and was told it would be $10 a night extra which I paid and just took it as a learning experience reminding me to call ahead as it's probably more likely they'll accommodate your request without a problem.

Thanks for the replies. I booked a "one bedroom suite". I learned here on the boards the property has two different one bedroom suites- one has queen bed, the other has a king. The king bed suite is a bit larger and has a balcony.

I called the resort and requested a king bed. The operator said that hotwire reservations are sold by wholesalers and a king "deluxe" suite was not available to Hotwire customers. She offerred an upgrade for additional $$$. I declined.

She said she would make note of my request for a king bed on my reservation. I plan to ask again at check-in. If my request is granted, bonus! If not, I am still happy with the price I paid for my accommodations.

The reservation is at Mystic Dunes... $46 night. I really can't complain.
