Indeed I have just been fired. He claimed it was because I did not notify him of the time I was address canvassing in the form of an answering machine message, although I called every morning and did not receive a response.
He denies that I called him, and further claims that his cell phone does not have a missed calls list.
I offered to submit nightly written plans for the subsequent day and begged him to get in touch with me via the HHC message service. I informed him that he could contact me through email on my blackberry. He failed to show up for a planned meeting in the field, and claims no knowledge of it.
When i have gotten in touch with him, he did not know who I was several calls in a row and told me to call the other guy.
He went on to say that I had "an attitude" from the beginning, and in training threw my HHC in frustration. I found that astonishing to hear, particularly as he was not there.
I think that he must have been frightfully overworked, and that we had more census workers than we need. The irony here is that i was doing a great job. I strapped on hiking boots and canvassed busy streets with no shoulder in the mud and heat on foot to get more done. Oh, well. I never imagined that i would be fired from a job, much less a part-time silly one like this.
