Just wondering when it is this year and what it is like? Any info on the subject would be appreciated! TIA

We were there two years ago - They do not tape the parade all at once, it takes many takes and could be done over the course of a week -

We were there the week after Thanksgiving when they were taping!!

They generally tape the MK parts the first Saturday in December. I always avoid MK on Saturday so have missed it even though I've been there that week 3 times now...but last year, because of that blizzard, they ended up taping on the Sunday too and I got to experience it just a little...all I did was walk down Main street and past Regis and Kelly and never went back till about 5 or 6 pm. It didn't really affect the rest of the park.

It was certainly crowded and crazy on Main Street though. They do take after take till they get it right. They tape the other segments on other days...like the footage from AK or MGM. It's crowded and can be quite boring to stand there and watch. The CMs are also a bit more rude on taping days. They are very strict about getting you to move out of the way etc...

We were there last year for the taping. It was the first weekend of December. They taped the actual parade on Saturday but did other segments throughout the week. You don't just go grab a seat on Main Street and watch the parade go by. They do it in segment throughout the day and they're not even in order. They may have to do parts over and over again and there's a lot of waiting in between. If you're lucky, you might get to stand on the curb and watch something being taped but usually the cm's rush you along the sidewalk. We found it to be fun and exciting but many don't. We got to see ourselves on tv chrismas morning during the finale. We saw Clay Aiken perform and the choir members that were in front of us were very friendly and played around with my dd. The MK is VERY crowded on that day and it's difficult to get down Main Street. We'll probably go again this year to the taping if it's the weekend we're there. We like the excitement but it's not for everyone. There's a lot of chaos and a lot of people.

I was there several years ago (1998, I think) for the taping in early December. I remember that it was one of those December days that get pretty hot out, and that I felt sorry for the people who were being filmed because they had to bundle up in coats to look "Christmas-y". I'm sure that you could watch the parade on TV that year and see lots of folks walking around in t-shirts and shorts!

Oddly enough, cold weather moved in on Monday, leaving a lot of CMs scattered around AK shivering in the early morning fog. It was evidently the first cold snap of the year and they weren't prepared with jackets... they should have borrowed them from those people who were anchoring the parade telecast!
